The inclusion of the web viewer in Obsidian alone makes it such a powerful all-in-one workstation. When I need to get things done, I basically live inside this program.

Pokopia will be the best Pokémon game released in quite a while, I think.

This looks great: "A Fools Errand" for the Playdate! https://www.iorama.studio/afoolserrand #videogames

  • Frozen Leaf

It is getting cold here in Berlin. I am really hoping for some snow this winter (actually, lots of it).

  • Miniphone Ultra

How cool is this? A simple 3D‑printed case that turns your Apple Watch Ultra into a tiny phone. It doesn’t add much – just a bit of plastic so you can actually hold it – but that small tweak unlocks a perfect minimal phone: no buzzing on your wrist, no doom‑scrolling; just the essentials. Honestly, it's kind of perfect. (Ok, well, it's not perfect that it doesn't exist for my – admittedly dated – Apple Watch 6, but still! Maybe there will be a version for it someday!)

  • Hollow Knight Throw Blanket

As you might know, Hollow Knight is one of my favourite games. So when I saw this cute throw blanket on Fangamer, I – also a lover of all things cozy – was very excited. Still am! That’s why I’m writing this post: to let you all know that such a thing exists! The state of game merch is truly fascinating. There are now so many great options to choose from – from cool desk mats to fancy pins, and yes, even cozy blankets.

  • Retro Game Hunting

I have been on the hunt for the Dragon Quest DS and 3DS games here in Berlin: three stores and no luck! I guess eBay wins again… But at least I got to experience this very (!) overwhelming shelf at one of the stores (Freeman Games).

  • A little motivation

I am trying to stay motivated during the last stretch before Christmas. This should help!

  • Ice cold

Winter is here. This year we even got real ice and snow - a rare sight here in Berlin, where it’s mostly just grey and cold (but not cold enough) most years.

  • Couple on the beach

We spend new years at the beach. Very cold, but the kids got into the water nonetheless. Real heros!

  • Frozen over

It’s so cold in northern Germany that the Baltic Sea is partly frozen. What a rare – but exciting – sight!

  • Seeing: Bought a little reading light for the night.

Bought a little reading light for the night. It has a few different light modes (yellow light is obviously the best option) and the battery lasts forever. A real reading upgrade!

  • Where are all the AI games?

From Why No AI Games?: I think what’s really going on here is that these new models just aren’t the natural source of fun I thought they would be when I first encountered them. Some forms of computation end up being a deep well of fun. 3D rendering is fun. Physics engines are fun. But these new AI models, despite being powerful and useful and fascinating, don’t seem to be intrinsically fun. Which I think is kind of surprising!Frank Lantz wonders why we don’t see more “AI native” games. I’m wond...
