@Remittancegirl When I first followed you I thought that your expressed preference for replies over boosts/likes was interesting but I was a bit sceptical. My scepticism is gone. Your own thoughts and those you have brought forward have been a very positive influence on my fediverse experience and your strategy has magnified that benefit. Thanks!

I am trying to set up #OpenPGP #encryption for #XMPP chats but don't have contacts who have it in use. I use #monocles but it should work with any XMPP app. If any others out there are interested in this, please let me know. 😁 #infosec #privacy

With Orban's obliteration, #Ukraine has finally received the support from the EU that he blockaded. We can celebrate the fact that despite the support he had from the Russian tyrant and his American imitator, #democracy prevailed.

. . to handle Trump, I say this: the only answer may be to wait him out Simon Jenkins, The Guardian . . it is so clearly the creation of one man driven by personal vanity, who wishes to force the world to dance to his tune. He is joined in his quest for global disorder by a like-minded soul, Vladimir Putin. . . We can only know that without them, these wars probably would not have begun. The world must react with due realism and proportion. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2026/apr/0...

The U.S. isn’t happy about Canada’s quest for digital sovereignty Michael Geist U.S. released its annual report on trade barriers and for the first time, Canada was listed alongside dozens of other countries for seeking greater control over its own data. The message is clear: When countries enact laws that restrict where data is stored and who can access that information, the U.S. treats them as a trade threat. gift link: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/gift/c0e9f1056d6b9c3915646ed7d591e75b8b3...

Trump invades a sovereign country for a contrived reason expecting it to fall in days, fails and then decides destroying the power grid to punish the civilian population is his new plan. I wonder who he got that idea from.

Donald Trump wants to make an example out of Canada. How will we prepare? Andrew Coyne January 30, 2026 We are in a lot of trouble, and we need to move fast. We have little ability to predict Mr. Trump’s actions, and no reason to confine our imagination to what is reasonable or even practical. It is not enough to hope for the best. We have to plan for the worst. Gift link: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/gift/c0e9f1056d6b9c3915646ed7d591e75b8b32c59a8abc0b7fa9c81b61552cb16c/6QNWXBCWLJDRDJMCVHRS...
