I moved to Massachusetts on a Patriots Day back in the early 2000s. A different time of my life, a different part of the country -- and a very different country, alas. But today I miss the Old Bean, its history, its art, its goodies that it gave me. Oh Boston, I tip my (tricorn) hat to you!

I remember when the big concerns in life were unintended consequences. An unseen hand. These were the legitimate worries of all sorts of smart people. Anyway, this crazy world now of intended consequences, it doth royally suck.

Predators This is a common trait among them. Thiel, Trump, Epstein, Noem, MTG, Zuckerberg, Raniere, Bakker, Mike Lee, Hannity, Bezos, Andreessen, that one guy at your office, Musk, the 62 million clicks, and the list goes on ad infinitum. All they want is you to do what they say. All they want is utter control over other people’s bodies, actions, money. They prey. That’s what they have in common.

@amirbkhan@mastodon.social Big tech, closed-source American tech with big moats, is perhaps the biggest threat to the freedoms currently enjoyed in most of Europe. It has corroded the best founding principles of America, and it knows no bounds. Unless checked, it will grow at all costs. All. Open source, decentralized, federated, no vendor lock-in, etc, etc, are the ways to go.
