    Every time I listen to an American talk on a podcast or in a YouTube or instagram video about anything Canadian (things ranging from, say, Mark Carney to Heated Rivalry), I brace myself to be annoyed by something ignorant or (usually unintentionally) insulting that they inevitably will end up saying about Canada. Every time, I think to myself: “maybe this will be the one time I will have braced myself for no reason!” But every time I’m disappointed. Every. Time.

    New instance, new introduction! I&amp;#39;ve been in the Fediverse since March 2022, but this is only my second instance. I was born in the US and immigrated to Canada in 1997. I lived in Edmonton, Alberta for 28 years before moving to Halifax, Nova Scotia in 2024. I&amp;#39;m so Canadian these days that I regularly forget I wasn&amp;#39;t born here, but technically I&amp;#39;m an immigrant and a naturalized citizen.
