@pratik I've seen so many people into this and ... boy I cannot imagine giving access to my email account like this. Maybe I'm a luddite. Maybe if I were running the LLM locally. Maybe.

Everyone says they hate targeted ads, but I was looking for courses/workshops (in person) to learn more about guitar building and repair, and then tonight Instagram sent me an ad for a four week guitar building class 1.5 miles from my house I would have never known about otherwise.

I have to admit-- I forgot eBay was still a thing. I buy used stuff online and basically never go there. Just me? Millennial thing?

YouTube just broke their AppleTV app with autoplay on thumbnail hover. Autoplay is annoying enough, but if you set the AppleTV to match the content for refresh rate and HDR-type, this basically means a “flash” every time you navigate a single tile.

"I think one of the undervalued pitches that a prospective Democratic candidate for President in 2028 could make is, “Young enough to have to live with the consequences of my decisions.”" Corey Richardson on Threads https://www.threads.com/@thecoreyrichardson/post/DX0aGjlkbrU?xmt=AQF0u-NlE5ACW_-pb5x-644cdvfTFim0OGZexBK7WmTsYOhPeiwuF6urBXlgnpdlJHeiv1tL&slof=1

I think the worst sign for OpenAI is that people are using the phrase “Claude” as often as “ChatGPT” or “ChattyG” and other variants as a generic “I asked the AI/robot/agent/LLM a thing.” Their first mover advantage on product was meant to make OpenAI and ChatGPT the generic word— like Kleenex or Google. They failed to achieve this.

Figma not being able to merge with Adobe and then being deeply disrupted adds to the long history of anti-trust in the US being notoriously bad at determining what mergers are or are not problematic.

A fun thing that happens every week-- I keep thinking about how I want to get different gear, then I go play with Colin and Charlie and I think "damn my guitar sound is dialed in."

Whelp, JHS has let it out that the new dual overdrive they're working on is a Morning Glory + Klon. I'm mostly using the left side of my Double Barrel (a Morning Glory) with the Notaklon these days... so I guess my pedal board is getting a new addition soon and a bit of space back.

At some point this year, I just stopped reading and I stopped writing. I haven't felt like doing much of either. In the past, I'd worry about it. Now I just think, "it's just not that kind of season in my life."

Apple could do a lot more with Wallet. It's one of my favorite iOS features, but it's not a great app. It needs more organization tools and contextual awareness.
