  I wonder when people are going to start writing about the opex implications of train and inference clusters. I get that the capex story is hilariously full of vendors in buyers’ pockets, depreciation forecast comedy and cost predictions that seem willfully blind to subsidized prices. But comparisons to dot-com-bubble black fiber seem to ignore that a pipeline full of glass strands has totally different upkeep than an air-cooled building full of A100s in Phoenix.

  Like everyone, I love unsolicited, general purpose business advice. Especially if it’s unrelated to my expertise, market and toolset. Bonus points if it’s indistinguishable from general purpose self-help.

  Finally finished decommissioning a system so I can convert it to file server use and replace my badly underpowered synology. I had been thinking of TrueNAS Core, but I’d like to see how far https://daemonless.io gets me, and that’s just easier in #FreeBSD 14+.
