I had two good Marathon runs, both as Triage. Went to Dire Marsh and Outpost hunting UESC for a mission. Got a bunch of kills in Maintenance and Flight Control. Somehow I didn’t see anyone in FC despite all the noise I made. Got my quota and extracted just fine. In DM I sort of fought an assassin for exfil near AI Control. I shot first, but he disappeared. He smoked the exfil when the circle came up. This time I correctly waited for the two second timer before entering the circle. Got out.

In Dragon Warrior IV, the game starts with villagers begging the king to send someone to rescue their kidnapped children. Apparently there’s a lower bound of victims before he sends help. I like how he’s coy about the name of the country he runs.

I have absolutely no use for this thing. I own an Apple Watch and use it exclusively for notifications, timers, and Siri. And yet it comes in a beautiful blue. *bite knuckle emoji* https://store.google.com/product/google_fitbit_air?hl=en-US&pli=1

Widow's Bay on Apple TV+ is fantastic. Great writing, amazing direction. No notes. https://tv.apple.com/us/show/widows-bay/umc.cmc.1zzly0vah46bnvnwf0qkrjhh2

This paragraph made me feel like I'd lost my mind. A bear dressed in a frog costume implies gacha mechanics? What? It's not a sequel to Frog Fractions? https://kotaku.com/17-cool-indie-games-you-can-go-play-right-now-2000694942

Met a good crew on Discord tonight and had two amazing Marathon runs in Dire Marsh. On the first we didn’t meet a single crew. Got some decent loot and left. The second run had us fighting a crew in an open air warehouse and beating them. Apparently no one looks up - get the high ground! We had a standoff with another crew in the middle of a UESC battle. We left and managed to exfil from a guarded spot. My teammates got downed but we recovered and made it out. What a rush.

Two successful Rook exfils and one Assassin in #marathon. So fun. In my first Rook exfil I snuck in with a crew at the Hauler who were distracted fighting bots. I didn’t know the exfil makes a bubble around the circle as you leave. Super cool to sneak in there. Second Rook one, I met another Rook attempting a guarded exfil. I distracted the robots and we both made it out, circling the beacon. As the Assassin I did another guarded exfil, warning away a Recon with some warning shots to the head.

Two incredible runs in #Marathon today as part of a full crew. Both involved trouble at Overflow in Perimeter. In the first, we got into a huge firefight with at least two other crews. We took out one and a half teams, but got overrun by a third. In the second, we found ourselves fighting a Warden. But another team came on our back and took out both my partners. I hid in a ditch for a bit, peeked out, and saw them congregating on their bags. I tossed a frag and started blasting.

The red mist is starting to fade from my eyes RE: Marathon. I still love the game, but I’m going up against teenage cyborg assassins and it’s tough. Is this what it’s like to be sweaty? I do always make sure to end on a win so I can sleep happy.

The best screen on my phone. Thanks to everyone who stood firm and refused to upgrade to iOS 26.

It’s helpful to stop playing Marathon after a good run. Today I had a very good run: I did a quest for NuCal that wanted you to go to Complex and then Quarantine and each time you did the thing on the computer they would lock the room and send in bots to fight you. The second time, a Destroyer crept into the room where I had been locked. But I was ready for him: took him down with an energy SMG and stole my first purple backpack. And a Longshot. Sorry, dude, you could have left me alone.

Shout out to Bulbapedia, very helpful as a dad of Pokemon-obsessed children. My favorite part of that site is the absurdly thorough physical description of each creature as seen in the Biology section. You could probably draw any of them very accurately just from this one paragraph. https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Torracat_(Pokémon)
