RE: https://mastodon.social/@zackwhittaker/116976288125973754 > Prosecutors later charged Tunick under a federal statute that makes it unlawful to knowingly destroy or damage property to prevent authorities from seizing it. They *did* successfully seize the phone (the physical device) though 🤔 Notoriously (in privacy-related cases) you don't have property rights over your data, it's not a commodity. If the government can claim this is property, can I now sue data brokers for steal...

#Mullvad's co-CEO claims to support "freedom" while also supporting remigration, because his concept of personal freedom is tied to privilege and wealth, and preserving those things. That is unrelated to freedom. Opposing immigration is incompatible with supporting freedom. We are only free when everyone is free.

Honestly I've never seen anyone on Mastodon post about content warnings (one way or the other) as much as @mattblaze@federate.social does lol However, if you are the type to "demand" he (or anyone else) use content warnings, can I introduce you to Mastodon's keyword filters? You can literally add content warnings to any person's post on your own: https://docs.joinmastodon.org/user/moderating/ The number of politics-related keywords you'd have to add to a filter in or...

Finally got to publish another great video, we got a chance to speak with Naomi Brockwell, a legendary privacy advocate making a foray into policywriting with the Surveillance Accountability Act. If you're in the USA and want to get involved, or if you're elsewhere and want inspiration for your own advocacy work, absolutely give it a watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9Vb3hTxdP4

$750 for Plex Pass is INSANE. If I really liked #Plex "because it has more client apps" I could probably just swap out every streaming client I have for less than the new Plex Pass price.

Saw a paper recently that said LLMs can correctly answer multiple choice questions without knowing the question being asked. And people online are all impressed/confused about it of course, but like… surely anyone can look at a list like: (A) cos(x) (B) sin(x) (C) -sin(x) (D) sin(2x) And immediately intuit that B is the right answer, no? This is how I did all my tests in school lol

Much like Nostr, given the sort of content that is on Freenet, this is not surprising to me in the slightest. edit: I guess I meant to reply to https://freeradical.zone/@tek/116615357374592127 and messed it up somehow, oh well.

If anyone uses #AppVerifier on #Android we are hoping to publish a database of APK signatures to privacyguides.org soon, and are accepting crowdsourced submissions now: https://github.com/privacyguides/verified-apps/issues/new?template=app-submission.yml If you can contribute some apps you use, we'd appreciate it!

Sony: You’ve tried normal photos. What about making them as shitty as possible? It’ll only cost you a datacenter in your backyard! (real ad yes https://nitter.net/sonyxperia/status/2054853108988047562)

idk if any mutuals have/want a newsletter and want to switch to Ghost, but I will literally help you migrate to Ghost from your static site, Substack, whatever for free; just because I think Ghost and its recommendation network and its ActivityPub features are all so awesome 🙏 I *really* want to get the network effect going with an open-source platform and leave Substack in the dust. So yeah hmu lol

It's a very comprehensive resource I hope privacy advocates will find valuable! 💛 Our ongoing work at Privacy Guides doesn't come cheap. Back at it again with the free stuff~ I’m giving away a 1-year IVPN (ivpn.net) Pro subscription to one of my lovely followers who boosts & replies to this post. A winner will be randomly selected in a week, good luck! IVPN is one of the providers we recommend at @privacyguides. I’m/we’re not sponsored/affiliated with them in any way, I just like their service 😁

The increased prominence of domain verification, across basically *everywhere* in the upcoming Mastodon 4.6.0 release, is extremely cool. Great change!
