Stupid story about me: I've been (very slowly) rewatching Buffy over the last several years, mostly while working out. I stopped, probably over a year ago now, when I reached "The Body". I can't watch that one without giving it my full attention. It's not a background episode.

It's amazing how often the Weather complication (or app) on an Apple Watch just doesn't work.

Silly thing that makes me feel good: I have a bit of CSS in my project that flips the button order in dialogs to match the normal platform button order.

I've had banana phone stuck in my head for a few days, and I'm kinda ok with it. I miss the fun internet.

RE: https://indieweb.social/@brentsimmons/116145709346096958 As a very occasional Mac developer, I still start with Objective-C. I still like it a lot, and it's _stable_.

I swear absolutely everything about macOS worked better a decade ago. Picking a user from the sign in screen? Since Ventura or so there's a weird hover interaction required to switch. 1Password? It's been terrible since the Electron rewrite, but I'm not sure how much of that is the Electron stuff and how much is just Safari's autocomplete API. I feel like I have to dismiss passkey prompts 3 times every time I decline to register one.

I have not yet updated to Numbers 15. I have a couple of spreadsheets I use for tracking bills and finances that I've been sharing with my wife for years and we still use an iMac on Ventura so I've been sticking with Numbers 14.5 for now. Apple's already cut off shared documents for Numbers 14.5, so that sucks, but I'm pretty sure there's a failed process still trying to sync things, because I lost a ton of edits in my bills spreadsheet. So that's...

Music, iOS 18: is there any way to reorder tracks in a playlist? The obvious drag and drop doesn't work, and I don't see anything useful in the context menu.

Heh, fun quote on Wikipedia's iOS 6 page: "Craig Grannell of TechRadar wrote that "iOS 6 is rather like the iPhone 5 or OS X Mountain Lion - the refinement of something that already works extremely well. Apple isn't overhauling things for the sake of it but, in the main, making the iOS experience gradually better. That in itself is something other companies would do well to emulate."" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IOS_6#Reception

Two weird Safari issues driving me crazy today: 1. Elements with `draggable="true"` set aren't working correctly. I see the `dragstart` and `dragend` events firing, but there's zero visual feedback. This is only in my primary application: a nearly identical prototype works fine. 2. `<link rel="preload">` correctly preloads a resource, but a fetch request that fires immediately when JavaScript starts running ends up re-issuing t...

@panic If I may ask, is there a particular version of WebKit that Nova uses for preview panes? I have a weird issue with draggable elements that presents in Safari 26.4 and the most recent Safari Tech Preview, but _not_ in Nova's previews and I'm trying to figure out where the difference is.

Can anyone recommend good tutorials on drawing small icons (like the size you'd stick in a sidebar) from the before-flat-design times?

@gedeonm@mastodon.social I hate to say it, but if you're mostly a Safari user, Safari may be the problem. I think it clears out stored cookies if you haven't visited a website in more than a week. I know that for paying bills it renders any "Remember this device" stuff absolutely useless โ I only visit those once a month. :-/
