I swear, the next time my backup for the load balancers says the words "I asked ChatGPT how to..." I'm going to lose my fucking mind. We sent them to class, I've trained them, and instead of referring to notes or documentation, they default to a bullshit generator. They're going to have a rude awakening the first time the wrong hallucination is fed to them. I will throw an entire fucking city's worth of buses at them if they run something from an English prediction e...

I've finally found a use for Focus mode on Android. My Focus mode is set to pause all my work apps. And since I'm on PTO, I've enabled Focus mode. Poof, work is gone. I like this plan.

Facebook should not require logins to view more than the very latest of the timeline for official profiles (police, emergency response, etc). I should not be required to have an account just to see the latest info on public emergencies, especially when most police departments/etc likely post to Facebook faster/more reliably than their own sites.

Oh, lovely. Now I get to clean up my mother's Google account because she clicked a scammy link. I should be thankful that this is a rarity, she's usually pretty good about not doing stupid things.

https://youtu.be/eIvS4NcAo9U?si=oWRzC9ieCvk15ec7 This is drone footage of tornado damage blocks away from my old house. It's only a few miles from where we are now. This is more than close enough...I can go the rest of my life not seeing this level of destruction.

Horrible new fear unlocked - watching a tornado on radar headed directly at your wife's office building, and just hoping she's safe. She's fine, we're all fine, she's slowly making her way home. From initial looks...her building was WAY too close to the debris trail for comfort.

Weird. I paused several Android apps while I was camping (because fuck work) and they didn't stop pausing at end of day like they're supposed to. But when I manually unpaused one, the rest unpaused all at once. I wonder if I can recreate it.

Our new, poorly implemented, barely tested, "replacement" paging system continues to piss off everyone in IT. The idea of "unionizing" (turning off phones and not accepting pages) has been raised an option to force leadership to address the issue. Up to this point it's been hand-wavy "we're working on it" nonsense. The peasants are getting restless...

I am beyond tired of having to explain TLS certificates to people. I'm running out of crayons, and I'm WAY out of patience.

Oh, good. Apparently the update to Sharefile's Storage Zones Controller software wasn't sufficient, and there are more issues (or still issues...?) and more updates.

This is shaping up to be a "I should take PTO" kind of day. Started with a security notice from ShareFile, is moving into "our project management/time tracking system is unavailable." And I'm still trying to fix Windows servers that just don't want to frickin' patch for some unknown reason. I thought Friday was supposed to be a nice, relaxing day.

Progress ShareFile appears to have something going on, but details are completely missing. If you use ShareFile's service with on-prem Storage Zone Controllers, your ShareFile access seems to be disabled this morning. No detail, no status page, no incident report - just disabled with an email saying "shutdown your Storage Zone Controller servers for data safety."

I love how LinkedIn feels the need to push their app so hard that mobile browsers are basically non-functional. Every few scrolls down it pops another "WHY NOT USE THE APP (and feed us that sweet, sweet data)," and when you say no, it jumps you back to the top of the page. I should just nuke my profile, it's not like it's anything but business-approved Facebook at this point anyway.

The bushes in the front yard make me feel creepy when I sit on my porch. My head barely pokes up over them, I can only imagine it looks like I'm hiding to people walking by.

Why does motivation come when it's least usable? I am on weight and movement restrictions after a mole removal on my back. Because of the position, I will be restricted for 2 to 3 weeks total. It has been 4 days so far. I have never been so motivated to do any of the big projects that need to happen around the house. I want to go build shit, pull weeds, just generally do SOMETHING. And yet, here I am, having to ask for help just changing bandages because of where it's positioned. I...

Thank you, overactive vasovagal response. You made a simple excision far more interesting than it needed to be. I didn't pass out, but I was getting there.

Oof. 6:30am, 80 degrees and humid. And because I have to go in to work today, I have to wear pants. I'm definitely changing as soon as I get home.

From CNN: "The fragile ceasefire between the US and Iran is being tested after both sides fired shots in the Strait of Hormuz." Dear journalists, Words have meanings. If shots have been fired, then by definition, there is no ceasefire. Sincerely, everyone who wants this shit to be over and done with. P.S.: Fucking cowards.
