B2B poems (2026) Made a tiny PDF booklet with my fav six poems I wrote with the help of search patterns (regex) and the program egrep. Oldschool computational poetry. Each search pattern gives a sequence of words in which the last and first letters of consecutive words are the same, stand B2B. Some include the first and last two letters or overlapping pairs and some extend the B2B over multiple sequences. English and German. Issue: Since over a week I’m trying to get the internal sound card on my laptop (HP Elitebook) working again. I have only “dummy device” and the logs say: sof-audio-pci-intel-cnl 0000:00:1f.3: error: failed to boot DSP firmware -110. I assume it has to do with the firmware. It occured after an upgrade to Ubuntu 25.10. Searched many many forums and tried many things without luck. My external sound interface (via USB) works fine. Anyone who had similar problems or knows what to do? #LinuxAudio

Tiny algorithm to find palindromes or anacyclics (with Regular Expressions) in a given text to compose a poem, a bit like this (on the right) by Bob Cobbing, 1966. The appeal is that it’s not so strict. \b(\w)(\w)(\w)\w?\s\3\2\1\b — capturing groups and backreferences

Finally, I added some documentation of an exciting collaboration I did over a year ago with performer Cathleen Baumann to my website. We were experimenting with human voice and computer (live coding), between signal and song, between abstract vocalization and spoken words. https://nervousdata.com/collab-cathleen.html It was initiated by @toplap_dus Cathleen and I met in person for the first time 1 1/2 days before the performance, developed a very rough script, audio set-up and even stage design...

friction coefficient of the floor surface is not exactly known https://nervousdata.bandcamp.com/album/friction-coefficient-of-the-floor-surface-is-not-exactly-known I uploaded two audio tracks to the Internet! They are taken from live recordings (live-coded). They are on bandcamp but also on my website where you can just right-click save as mp3. https://nervousdata.com/friction-coefficient.html

Next week, I will be in Barcelona for /* VIU */ Festival and host a workshop for Live Coded Computational Poetry (in P5LIVE). April 18, 2026, 11:00-13:00 Canódrom Barcelona https://toplap.cat/posts/viu-2026-workshops/ The workshop is an introduction to concepts of Computational Poetry and how to realize them in a Live Coding environment. By writing search algorithms (with Regular Expressions) we will engage with collage, automation, iteration and randomness in poetry (…) @toplap_bcn
