  I missed WIP Wednesday yesterday, so here's a photo of my current works in progress: three embroidery and one knitting. This doesn't count the two mosaic/slip-stitch shawl patterns I need to write up, plus a new one already sketched with colors chosen, ready to be knit.   Rewatching “Point Break” in a hotel room — since you watch whatever’s on cable, and it’s genuinely entertaining imo — and I literally guffawed at the meatball sandwich order scene: 3 sandos and 2 drinks for under $8. What a difference 35 years makes.

  I'm binge rewatching Schitt's Creek, and I think I enjoy it more this time around. Everyone is fabulous, but: 1) Catherine O'Hara was a gift. 2) Watching Dan Levy repeatedly smirk, trying not to break character is a treat. 3) I adore Emily Hampshire's sass.

  Hella vibes at the Civics Center farmers’ market today. Humidity must be going to everyone’s head. From the woman who sidled up to me, smiling with an orange slice as her grill, all while she helped herself to the season’s first cherries to the looming man who enthusiastically expressed his overwhelming craving for avocados — thanks for reminding me how weird and unpredictable this city is. Not that I needed the reminder.

  Though it's a post about thoughtful, slow craftsmanship vs hurried AI output, it's also worth noting that much of our furniture is actually thrifted or hand-me-downs — another tell of mastery of years past.   I’m not sure when it or how it evolved, but my handwriting is a now a print–cursive combo. My printing and cursive are both subpar, so this hybrid approach is… subpar.

  With sunglasses on, earplugs stuffed in my ears, and my butt firmly planted in a nose-bleed seat, I thoroughly enjoyed my second-ever viewing of Nine Inch Nails. Trent & co. have a well-oiled set, lasting at most 1:45, getting me back home by 11 p.m. Surrounded by Gen Xers, as well as plenty of younger folks, the nostalgia ran high for me, hearkening back to my high school and college days. When did we get so old? And yet, how does Trent sound exactly the same and maintain such energy?...

  In a world with socialized healthcare, I wouldn’t need to clutter my brain with stupid knowledge about CPT codes, where 99203 is an office visit while 99386 is a preventive care visit. The difference being $230 vs $0, after actual insurance allowances are applied. This system is absolute garbage.

  Yesterday was @nazhamid’s birthday, and he ate all the chocolate things. Chocolate sourdough bread made by me, a passion fruit and chocolate cake from Dandelion Chocolate, and chocolate sorbet from Hometown Creamery. He even held a dog that may as well have been made of chocolate. May you have many, many more years full of chocolate, my love!

  I absolutely do not need another project, already having one embroidery WIP, a knitting pattern to proofread and release, another shawl in the works, and a sweater to restart, but who’s counting? And yet, I decided this basic black ball cap was in need of pizzazz. This will be an intense labor of love since I do have intentions of covering the whole thing in a simple back stitch, to resemble topographical lines. #embroidery #hobby #craft
