I used my new hot plate for the first time and it was a success
I no longer want to use my gas stove anymore because I learned about the emissions, my kitchen has pretty bad air flow so I’m trying to just use a basic electric hot plate now.

People referring to AI using common pronouns is the most worrying thing currently in technology
Anyone who humanizes AI is a potential danger to our future. Remember that the only things that are living and conscious are things that rely primarily on cellular respiration to survive. It should greatly disturb us when we hear a human refer to an AI system using common pronouns he/him/his, she/her/hers, and they/them/theirs en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cellular_respiration

Greed is sucking the global economy dry, how do we prevent it?
The effects of money being funneled to the 1% is starting to dry up the real economy, store fronts closing, less people spending money, auto loan defaults increasing. How do we stop this from happening realistically together? Or is it inevitable that we enter another major global recession next year?

My best behavior is to make the 1% scared.

I've nearly figured out how to do radishes successfully every time
No soil or grow medium.

TIL about enhanced weathering
Supposedly one of the better ways to sequester carbon dioxide on a massive scale. I’ve learned about ocean fertilization in the past, but this also seems like a really good geoengineering option.

My tropaeolum told me they don't really like growing upward too much. I listened, so I'm experimenting with vertical side lighting now.
Has anyone else messed with this? Any tips or successes please share. Those are 2 Empress of India, 1 Jewel mix, 1 Alaska mix for anyone wondering. Lacinato kale bottom right in my other unit. Desert rose in the small pot on the floor. Microgreens tray covered on the left. I’m think about putting another tub underneath on that shelf with all the hydroponics equipment. Creating my first double stack vertical DIY DWC setup for a total of 8 tropaeolum with side lighting. Ideally they’ll fall down t...

Celebrating one of the densest successful germinations I've performed
These are speckled peas, no grow medium. Water and hydrogen peroxide in polypropylene trays. I’m trying to maximize yield so I can start doing a standardization. I have the rough measurements down already, and the process is well understood. If you have any tips or questions let me know!

I love using Claude and not paying any money for it. I know I’m the product, but it just confirms that we’re in a massive bubble and these valuations are ridiculous. Not real money. “Trillion-dollar” is meaningless if it never touches the real economy.

Cycling speckled peas and daikon radish
I have nearly finished learning how to do this successfully and consistently without any grow medium, no soil. First time doing multiple trays of daikon radish at the same time. Not ideal germination, but I know what I did wrong. I soaked the seeds in two containers, started several hours apart, then mixed them. The speckled peas are doing very well at this point, almost all seem to have germinated, and I was very careful not to over stuff the tray to avoid rot from anaerobic conditions. The onl...

My tropaeolum is recovering from yellow to green
This is hydroponic, the pH was too high so I lowered it and added nutrients to the water. Now that it can actually absorb nutrients the leaf is turning green again starting at the veins which I think looks really cool. It was previously much more yellow.

It feels good to build something functional
This is an inventory of what I’ve achieved over the last couple months. I started with the first DWC kale about three months ago, which has been producing for over 2 months now, 5 lacinato kale plants and 1 genovese basil growing prolifically. I started growing microgreens with no soil which has been decently successful with several challenges, primarily anaerobic rot and mold requiring me to learn to use hydrogen peroxide and doing water swap at the key stage between soak and germination before...

I’ve started using raw JavaScript in all my projects. There’s something about not relying on any libraries that makes it feel so much more powerful. The best AI models are very good at writing raw JavaScript, meaning you can easily create your own single page application structure. All I want are single page web applications using pure HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
