  I was responding to a FB post in a group when it was taken down. The question: "Do you listen to musicians because of their politics?" I was writing this answer but there was no place to put it once the post was removed. So, here goes... Music is what animates a movement. Can you imagine the Vietnam protests of the 60s without its soundtrack? Not all musicians are in it to keep the beat to a movement. Some are there to make you dance, bring the party.

  I was not in the antenna's reach when I was a teenager. Decades later when I saw a documentary about this scrappy modern rock radio station run out of someone's house in Eatontown, NJ, I was floored by the story, and inspired to write a song about it.   @YakyuNightOwl Great story! My encounters with famous musicians are mostly online these days. Going back, I've been to an Aimee Mann album signing in NYC. She was gracious and good to meet. And I met Phil Collen from Def Leppard in the stands at a Bon Jovi concert in NJ. As a guitarist myself, I got to tell him how much I liked Def Leppard's 2-guitar approach.
