Even doctors endorsed it. And yet, even as regulation repeatedly failed, the slow drip of highlighting the personal and social detriments gradually eroded social acceptance to the point where regulation became inevitable.

  This is big: #Spack has reached 1.0. Spack is (effectively) a distro-indepenedent package manager specifically for #HPC clusters.   The #SCA #HPCAsia 2025 #HPC conference in #Osaka registration is open and the full program is online: https://www.sca-hpcasia2026.jp/ Worth noting that it's quite a bit cheaper than SC or ISC; and the tutorials (and lunch) seem to be included in the price. I joined the #Spack tutorial two years ago; it's a good one.

The call is to not dilute environmental laws, but to strengthen them and push for stronger regulation in the entire European Union. Because being good at that is a business advantage, and avoiding environmental disaster is long term good for everyone, including the economy and the companies themselves.

Including the language kernels, running in the browser using WASM. You're not going to have the speed of a native interpreter, and you won't have access to remote data or anything. But you're *also* not faced with having to set up Python and Jupyter. And for beginners the speed doesn't matter while the ease of getting started matter...
