Does anyone know how macos 26.2&#39;s RDMA-over-Thunderbolt works? From my knowledge of USB4 it would only be possible if one (or both) of the hosts is pretending to be a PCIe device, but maybe Thunderbolt (or apple) has a different mechanism to do it with non-PCIe TB packets?

Just spent all evening trying to reverse-engineer how &quot;RDMA over Thunderbolt 5&quot; works, only to discover that there isn&#39;t any RDMA at all (at a hardware level it&#39;s just a second USB4NET-style connection, except macos lets you put the ring buffers in your userspace program&#39;s memory, so it&#39;s zero-copy and doesn&#39;t touch the kernel network stack).
