  genAI is the final evolution of enshittification. Companies used to have to make good products in order to get a large market share before they had the freedom to degrade performance and keep people paying for the promise that it might one day return to its former glory. Now people are so used to paying for hope, there doesn't need to be any former glory to return to. It suffices to lie about what the future will hold.

  At this point the way Youtube deals with languages has convinced me there is not a single even slightly multilingual person with decision-making power at that company. Which is extremely embarrassing for them because monolingualism is globally pretty uncommon.
