Happy Canada Day 🇨🇦🍁 Sending love from Scotland to our Canadian cousins with a wee sing song. 'The Scarborough Settler's Lament' was written by a Scottish immigrant who was longing for his homeland. Sandy Glendinning was one of the many Scots who settled in the bold highlands east of Toronto in the 1800s. Before it became known as Scarborough, the area was originally named after the Scottish city of Glasgow. #Emigration #CanadaDay #Scotland

Happy Valentines Day ♥️🌹 Scotland’s bard Robert Burns wrote the song in 1794 based on traditional sources. Burns sent the song to James Johnson, who created The Scots Musical Museum with the note: The tune of this song is in Niel Gow’s first collection and is there called Major Graham” . Out of shot, Michael Biggins on piano! 🎹

Response to the horrific antisemitic posters distributed in Aberdeen: Iona Fyfe, folk singer and Aberdeen University rector, said: “It’s important that we stand together to reject discrimination of all kinds. “There are dark forces at play seeking to divide the community, who only want to stir hatred and villainise parts of society. “There’s no place for fascism in our society.” https://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/news/6997899/police-investigate-antisemitic-flyers-victoria-park-aberdeen/
