    Hello, how are you doing? This is #NakedDieFriday speaking, and today&#39;s post is the continuation of the one from last week. It is the second die out of Conexant FM336PLUS, a modem chip. Unfortunately, there was some trash on the die which I could not remove. The die is larger than the other one and appears to be fully digital. There are a lot of memory blocks as well.     Hello! This is a very late #NakedDieFriday talking. I got caught in something here and totally lost track of time. Today we have one half of a chip. :D This FM336PLUS by Conexant contains two dies, but I only imaged one of them due to time constraints.     Greetings. This is #nakeddiefriday and today I got one on a reader&amp;#39;s request. I was kindly provided with the ASIC chip from the new #Lego Smart Brick. It is the one marked DA000001-04, which nobody really knows what it is and who made it. There were suggestions it was made by Dialog but no solid evidence AFAIK.     Hi! A little bit late in the day, but #nakeddiefriday is still happening today. And today&amp;#39;s exhibit is TC8568AM by Toshiba. This is a VFO to be used in floppy disk controllers. This is made very prominent on the die itself. Interesting how such a discrete part was still made in early 90s, where I kind of expected them to be replaced by fully integrated parts.     Hello and welcome to the first #nakeddiefriday of this spring. Today we have a family visit; I got several dies from the same manufacturer which is Starchip. I know, hardly heard of them, but they seem to make smartcard chips. They use manufacturer code 0x0081 in CPLC data. The first on is SCF384G, dated 2010.     This was for the lapping experiment no.2. I am and will be taking images of every step e.g. when I hit a layer. This is around an hour of lapping work and ~18 hours of imaging the result. So one layer per day if I do everything well unlike yesterday, lol. See alt text for description. #reverseengineering

    First semi-successful attempt at deprocessing by lapping. The outcome is extremely uneven, with metal2 remains showing over metal1, and a larger corner area being ground down to substrate. Despite that, it may be possible to recover around half the bits visible in the ROM block. If done more conservatively and with multiple intermediate steps, full recovery can be performed. #electronics #reverseengineering #deprocessing
