I2C Hotswap Buffer made some difference! Wish I didn’t have to power two components separately, but at least now they don’t get out of sync ☺️

Nice, just when I'm about to be finished with 3D prints for the show I learned how to use caliper to measure sub-mm distances 🤦

Oh no, Pixelmator can't handle more than 32000 pixels in width

Going to start my first 24 hour 3D print. Wish me luck! 🍀

Took a short walk at golden hour to test out the Super Takumar 50mm that I got, and oh the swirly bokeh! Flares are pretty rad too, although they are only visible in a small angle range. #Photography

Any illustrators looking for commission work? Olga and I are producing a play and are looking for artwork for posters, flyers, etc. The play is about dystopian future, but we are open to various interpretations of the story for the illustrations! (Boosts appreciated)

RE: https://mean.engineer/@indutny/116245283352156779 Over the night I got so many responses and boosts to my original Toot that I decided to start the petition to Node.js Technical Steering Committee (TSC) to make sure all our voices are heard. If you don't want Node.js core to be diluted with AI slop - please sign it by opening a Pull Request here and boosting this Toot for reach: https://github.com/indutny/no-ai-in-nodejs-core?tab=readme-ov-file#petition-to-nodejs-tsc-no-ai-code-in...

OH “AI apologetics”

Finally got to finish a long term maintenance idea that I had at work. The app and installer size is going to be reduced by around 10% as a result, while startup time getting 10% faster. Exciting!

“Virtual File System” PR for Node.js comes with a disclaimer: "Disclaimer: I've used a significant amount of Claude Code tokens to create this PR. I've reviewed all changes myself.” LoC added: +18945 Thankfully it hasn't been merged yet. The changes are all over the place and this makes me uncomfortable about running Node.js long term. https://github.com/nodejs/node/pull/61478

I'm so appreciative of @bengl right now. Their PR that proposes adding policy on LLM-generated contributions is receiving lots of feedback from other project maintainers and has helped me uncover additional concerns about LLM: https://github.com/nodejs/node/pull/62447 Like, I haven't thought until yesterday evening that LLM written code is completely antithetical to MIT-license under which Node.js is written. LLMs are designed to destroy attribution, but MIT license is built on...

In a way I'm glad that we started discourse on LLM use in Node.js core because it revealed to me that there are a lot more people who are not in AI hype-cycle than I previously thought. I'm now much more optimistic about the future of software engineering! Consider this: - 87.3% upvote ratio with 298 upvotes on /r/node - 76.6% upvote ratio with 50 upvotes on /r/javascript (and I just posted it) - Incredibly supportive comments on HN (!!!)

So excited about the 8.0 beta release of Signal. We worked on secure backups for a while, and as always built it with innovative approaches to make it privacy-bulletproof; but as exhilarating as working on that was there is nothing compared to getting it out into our users' hands! Give it a try in Signal Desktop or iOS/Android Beta 🥰 https://community.signalusers.org/t/beta-feedback-for-the-upcoming-desktop-8-0-release/74745
