In my city there are a lot of leftist community powered associations, groups, collectives, activists. They do an amazing work as social, cultural, political actors. With almost no exception their online presence is limited to and spread over the major social networks. And that despite they general distrust, to say the least, towards big corps. Almost none of them has a website. That’s an incredible contradiction I’ve been thinking a lot about. I’m not sure why this happens. #enshittification

Made a little test paginating html content procedurally, instead of relying on the browser. Each html element is measured, then laid out on the web page, and paginated doing simple position+height mathematical checks Goal is to increase speed in (and ultimately cache) in md -> html -> paginated content conversion for live edition Renders 500-ish pages in 600ms Stats in console log https://thecodedtype.com/mobydick/ #webtoprint #web2print

RE: https://mastodon.design/@iko/116573519567552988 [EDITED] Added a simple memoization for page fragmentation, on second pass total render time goes down to 50ms for 500 pages. Haven't tested the memoization with a real partial content change yet though. https://thecodedtype.com/mobydick/ #webtoprint

RE: https://mastodon.social/@trovster/116594861180301404 @trovster I love that despite its various evolutions php hasn’t abandoned its more simple core. Great initiative I’ll check into it

I made a little server that turns markdown folders into websites at runtime. No build. Just upload the folder, add css if you like, you got yourself a website. The idea is to turn a folder of notes into browsable pages. If you’d like to test it shoot me a DM I’ll run tests throughout May #markdown

1/n I've finished the V1 of The Traveller, one shot and a big chunk of The Lost Bay RPG, which kind of establishes as a baseline. Lots of things to tweak, the baseline!, the NPC blocks, alignements etc, but I'll leave it for now, I'm moving on to the rules part of the book Thread of screen shots #css #ttrpg #webtoprint
