All the #emfcamp2026 talks are already online. I had to double check that it was actually the correct year: https://app.media.ccc.de/b/conferences/emf/2026 Great to be able to watch the talks I missed so soon after the event!

C-Suites in 5 years (hopefully in the trials): How could we have known that the efficiency gains we predicted would come from AI were unfounded? That would've required us to listen to the opinions of: - Our qualified and experienced employees - AI domain experts - AI ethicists - Literally any of the research into efficiency gains from the use of AI - What literally all smart people are saying - People who can observe the world they exist in

I think back to fruitful collaborations with engineering colleagues and leaders I greatly respected, and I remember the great lessons I learned from them and have applied (with limited success I must admit) to my career. This is sure to draw the ire of my former massachussan neighbors, but it’s clear to see that Dunkin Donuts is better in the Netherlands. New England Ben n Jerry’s is way better though.

Today's woodworking adventure involved shaving an honest to goodness spoke with my spokeshave. Tomorrow, I'll be cutting panels again, because the hexagon was too big. Turns out when you don't plan to do dovetails, you get stuff done.

My toxic trait is that I really think social media would actually be fine in a healthy society that doesn’t depend on emiseration of the working (and middle) class and glorify commoditization and commercial exploitation of things like interpersonal relationships, art and culture, and packaging your life up as a story to sell to advertising companies in exchange for a tiny cut of their revenue, and in which people are disempowered in even imagining a better world

I’m just saying, how different are transformer based LLMs to just really really really big markov chains with some kind of distance matching rather than exact matching anyway.

I hope everyone’s working on their hexpansions for #emfcamp - I sure am. I might have to organize an hexpansion talent show.
