  @cliophate Finding and getting a place in Germany is quite difficult if you don't want to pay private. I don't like to pay privately, even if I could. The system needs fixing.   Zeitgeist App from @marcel is really a hit for me. Sooo fast, no fuzz, no accounts, no splash screen. Just the right amount of features to quickly jot down a journal entry. And especially, no AI 😀

  During the holidays I experimented with a couple of different smaller container schedulers, because so far I only know K8s, Nomad and ECS. I checked out Portainer, Coolify and Uncloud. What they all lack and what really draws me towards Nomad is the Vault integration. Templating secrets into files and vendoring DB or AWS Credentials takes away a lot of glue-scipting. Reloading secrets from Vault and using a customizable Signal (SIGHUP etc.) also works like a charm.

  Over the last couple of weeks I switched my homeserver (HB Gen8 Mini) from TrueNAS (still the FreeBSD variant) to Unraid. The Docker & Tailscale integration made it quite easy to launch the set of apps for media management. ZFS integration works, but not as nice as in FreeBSD. 4x4 TB RAIDz1, 1 TB SSD and 7 apps in containers are buzzing away at 38-40W which translates to about 1kWh a day.
