Oh, it's #BandCampFriday again. My wishlist is kinda empty (and/or has stuff that I don't actually want anymore). So I have to see if there's anything I actually want to buy today.

Wow, the jurisdictional transfer of Park Street from the state to the City of Madison is moving forward! This will give the city much more room for creating a safer street (and no more excuses!). https://madison.legistar.com/LegislationDetail.aspx?ID=8124619&GUID=49B3B877-7F47-42B0-BA0B-D33E76519331 #MadisonWI #VisionZero

Madison Bike Week starts next week Saturday (May 30). So far, we have 77 events on the calendar for the week. I don't think that's a record yet, but based on experience, that number is still going to go up. https://www.madisonbikes.org/events/bikeweek-2026/ #MadisonWI #BikeTooter

It's Vegan Sausage Fest today in Madison! Lots of different food (and some other) vendors, and a central location at Breese Stevens Field. I'm volunteering for setup and will then hang out and enjoy delicious food. https://www.vegansausagefest.com/ #vegan #MadisonWI

Has anyone successfully converted their blog/website from Distill to Quarto without re-rendering all the posts and code? I am aware of @djnavarro 's post on the topic from 2022 (https://blog.djnavarro.net/posts/2022-04-20_porting-to-quarto/) but Danielle did convert and re-render her old posts. Distill still works just fine for me, but with it no longer being under active development, I'd like to switch to Quarto. #Quarto #RStats

`transport=bike_with_flatbed_trailer` I needed to make a quick delivery and used the opportunity to collect some imageryfor #Panoramax. A new multi-use path is just about to open in downtown #MadisonWI

I posted a waffle chart of impervious areas in #MadisonWI a while ago. Now it's a proper blog post with all the code to reproduce the chart (and an added table). https://haraldkliems.netlify.app/posts/2026-04-28-impermeable-areas-as-a-waffle-chart/ #DataViz #RStats

I just saw this in @weeklyOSM : Create printable pre-styled map posters of #OpenStreetMap data. Really nice themes and easy UI to adjust options. https://terraink.app/

#Wisconsin #GravelCycling fans: Dairy Roubaix is coming up in less than two weeks. It's a low-cost ($22.50), low-key event with beautiful routes through the #DriftlessRegion ranging from 30 to 111 miles. I had a blast last year. Bring your climbing legs. More info: https://dairyroubaix.weebly.com/ (and, if you're so inclined, you can use this referral link to sign up: https://runsignup.com/Race/WI/Ferryville/DairyRoubaix?raceRefCode=P4na6wqx)

#Breadstodon The usual Country Brown pure #sourdough bread, more or less following Ken Forkish's recipe. Today I increased the baking time with the lid on by another minute and baked at 470 F. I'm getting closer to where I want to be!

RE: https://mastodon.social/@cyclists_of_msn/116369640975396656 This was during a late blizzard this year, mid-March. I was just walking back from shoveling out a stranded driver when this guy rides by and cheerily yells, "That's Wisconsin, baby!"

RE: https://newsie.social/@ProPublica/116227741139710955 Really important reporting on forced c-sections. Medical racism against Black pregnant people is alive and well. "Mentally competent patients typically have the right to choose their medical care — or refuse it. But there is one notable exception: pregnant patients. That inconsistency is particularly striking in FL, a state that has pushed to expand medical freedom for those who wish to avoid vaccines or fluoridated water, while...

I'd like to scan some magazines with my #Android phone. Mix of text and photos, drawings, full color. I tried Google's beta scanning app which is very fast, but the quality isn't great. What do people like as scanning app? Speed/convenience are more important than quality, but it still needs to be good enough to at least have readable text. #AskFedi

Ticket prices for #RiseAgainst in Madison tonight have gone down sharply since this morning. $71 face value, $42 around 9am, currently $25 including fees. If this continues, I may actually go. Thanks, horrible weather.

Had a decent day of video editing today. I'm working on day 7 of our #bikepacking trip: Three classic Dolomites passes (Sella, Pordoi, Falzarego). Still a lot to do, but I have the intro sequence, recorded much of the narration, got the 3D route map rendered.
