Today’s new enshitification is Google trying to force me to use Google Drive instead of email attachments to share six small images total size less that 5Mb with the dumb message “images are over 25Mb” when they plainly are not 🙄 #Google #enshitification

Tonight I have been painting buffer stops. The frameworks are NATO Black, the buffer beams are a mixture of styles. I have a couple of rust pens to finish the job tomorrow.

One of this afternoon’s side quests is to find a circuit diagram and troubleshooting guide to this old Mac IIvx power supply, which appears to be completely dead. It’s a Delta LR57908C (or SMP-120EB), Apple part 614-0009.

Stop the presses! I’ve just had an advert served to me on YouTube - Gillette have launched a razor that they say is “perfect for edging”. Sounds like they’re cutting a lawn! Or something 😜

If you put an open jar of Nigella seeds to your ear and listen very carefully you’ll hear something like “The kitchen is the heart of the home” or “I find it best to use the whole pack of butter”.

Yay short working day!! Except it’s only short because I started at 04:30 (go-live days are such fun) so I can finish early afternoon *provided* nothing goes wrong that causes me to have to hang around… Feeling the early start already 🥱

Went for a six mile circular walk today starting from Rock. Drive through Pityme on the way there which raised a laugh. As always beautiful beaches and wonderful scenery. T-shirt weather!

Had some work done this week on the garden and the landscaper forgot we already had one bag of gravel. So we are offering as much or as little as you need, for free, first to collect, first served, all you have to do is take it away. Bring your own shovel and bags. DM me to arrange. First two pictures are what’s on offer. The third pic shows you what it looks like when it is down.

I used to think that I only ate during the working day if I was bored. I now realise that I also eat when stressed… so I need to find that happy medium of being busy without being stressed. Not easy the week before your project goes live!

Sitrep: slowly drowning in tasks that must be completed “yesterday” yet only appeared today, in a frenetic attempt to get a service live at some point early next week. Send caffeine. Except I’ve probably had too much shady.

Watching snooker with partner’s mum. Catching up with who the current crop of players are. Xintong definitely needs to play Iddle-eyepoe at some point. And if there isn’t a player with that surname - somebody better change theirs, pronto. Great promo move plus royalties for the families of The Goons with all the airplay that the Ying Tong song would get…

I’d missed that the Crystal Maze had relaunched. Came across a video on your most/least favourite video platform (YouTube). Got two minutes in and he’s running through the team. No women. And, frankly, no charisma to speak of. But here they are, judge for yourselves… #TheCrystalMaze

Can anyone identify what the engine is on this quarter’s MERG magazine? The credit is simply “Adobe Stock”, it looks a real mess in terms of what parts are where, wondering if it is AI 😕 This is my last MERG magazine, I’ve been a member for about 4 years but let it lapse last month because although the articles are fairly interesting, I’ve never ordered any of their kits and don’t intend to. #MERG #SteamEngine

No pictures because… frustration. I finished re-mapping all my DCC sensor boards and points and updated JMRI so that it has all the new references, and so the old references are deleted. I think I might have two or three point sensors back to front still, but I’ll work that out next time. After a very long and frustrating evening testing LocoNet cables for faults, and LocoNet boards for faults, and making new cables, and testing those, and going round in circles… I finally worked out that my...

This afternoon I finally finished properly educating myself on the subject of DCC addressing with respect to sensors, and specifically how sensor boards work on LocoNet - and that block occupancy seniors occupy the same addressable space as, say, point feedback sensors. Now that probably seems obvious but what wasn’t obvious to me was how YaMoRC sensors get their LocoNet ID - just subtract 1 from the first address and then divide by 16 and add 1. Took a bit of experimentation but now I have si...

@evacide@hachyderm.io I feel seen. Have not spent two consecutive days in an office since February 2020. My partner is definitely concerned but I, on the other hand, am not. Thing is, she’s usually right. Hmm..,

@root42@chaos.social still not gone there. And with them introducing age verification in iOS 26.4 (some phone features apparently disabled if you don’t add a credit card to your Apple wallet) I’m not sure I will, for the foreseeable, be accepting any updates that aren’t just the essential security patches.

@trickykat@beige.party I’m sorry but you’re welcome 🤪 I often wonder if there are foreign language equivalents to the English opening phrase “with all due respect” which is essentially a code for “what I’m about to say lacks any respect” 😬😬
