Gemini’s input box load before the rest of the page does which I appreciate. Unfortunately, if you start typing in it too soon, it will cut off your typing in the middle and then trying to answer the few characters you managed to type. Wonder how much compute is wasted by this.

"But I’ll say this: the AI bubble isn’t predominantly giving off Pets.com or Global Crossing vibes anymore. It’s giving Enron vibes. When the dust settles, we’ll probably see a whole lot of books written about the fancy math games that convinced investors that two companies passing $100 billion back and forth were creating $200 billion in value instead of having a net financial impact of $0." https://davekarpf.substack.com/p/its-giving-enron?r=eeyg&triedRedirect=true

1. AI is coming for everyone's jobs because AGI is right around the corner. 2. AI can't handle a checkout flow so every e-commerce site needs to add a special API just for AI to use. These two things can't both be true. If 1 is true, why waste time on 2? https://searchengineland.com/google-universal-commerce-protocol-467290

I was surprised to realize that most cookie consent managers don't actually test the things that an organization would need to test in order to know that they are in compliance with privacy laws. I had to write a custom script to check for our clients. https://cloudfour.com/thinks/most-cookie-consent-banners-dont-check-for-compliance/

RE: https://front-end.social/@grigs/116324883026951918 I know I mentioned this at the end of the article, but I want to emphasize again that I'm happy to answer any questions you may have about my experience with tirzepatide (or web perf for that matter). Happy to answer publicly or privately. #glp1

Fantastic article from Anna E. Cook digging into the value of prototyping and why AI may not be the best tool for it. https://annaecook.com/writing/2026/ai-prototyping-harder-worser-faster-wronger

The various GLP-1 medications are amazing. Tirzepatide has made a huge difference in my life. We need something like it for the web. https://cloudfour.com/thinks/weight-loss-and-the-world-wide-web/ #webperf #perfnow #glp1

Over the last few months, we've had multiple clients ask us for help with the technical bits of CCPA and GPDR compliance. In this new series, I share a bit of what we've learned about cookie consent management in the process. https://cloudfour.com/thinks/cookie-consent-management-in-2026-part-1-overview/

Part two of my series on cookie consent management focuses on technical tip and tricks for testing cookies including one thing I've been doing wrong for years. Don't make the same mistake. https://cloudfour.com/thinks/cookie-consent-management-in-2026-part-2-technical-tips/

This is an absolutely horrible idea and Google should be bloody ashamed for even testing it. Turn the experiment off and destroy the source code. https://www.theverge.com/tech/896490/google-replace-news-headlines-in-search-canary-coal-mine-experiment

Every bit of this Top ten Figma betrayals by @db rings true. It is challenging when you think responsive but others don't see the challenges that are obvious to you. https://dbushell.com/2026/03/23/top-ten-figma-betrayls/ FWIW, this is why we design in the browser. https://cloudfour.com/thinks/traditional-web-design-process-is-fundamentally-broken/

Let's talk about Global Privacy Control (GPC) and the ways cookie banners seem to be trying to trick people into accepting cookies even though they've already opted out. Is this just poor UX or is it malicious compliance? https://cloudfour.com/thinks/gpc-opt-out-ux-fails-or-malicious-compliance/

Two AI products above Friends in the Facebook navigation. Could there be any clearer statement about Meta’s priorities? Also, WTF is Manus AI and why is it different than Meta AI? Actually, don’t answer that. I’m never going to use either of them.

“a new set of tools released this week by a SF start-up forced a sudden reckoning on Wall Street.” What new tools? Article doesn’t say? I’ve read it multiple times and can’t figure out what they are taking about. I’m sharing a gift article in hopes someone else knows or can point to what I missed. https://www.nytimes.com/2026/02/06/business/the-dark-side-of-ai-weighs-on-the-stock-market.html?unlocked_article_code=1.KFA.0F4M.p06eVY1Wkim5&smid=url-share

In some ways, the very existence of the Universal Commerce Protocol is a refutation of every bit of Sam Altman hype. "We have AI that is super intelligent, but it can't handle a checkout flow that humans use daily so please take the time to build a special API for it, kthxbye."
