@MeaningfulBits@mastodon.social @a@girllich.link @theleftistlawyer@mastodon.social and really, it's not even about the money, right? As mentioned somewhere else in the thread, most net worth is not liquid assets, so it's all about consolidated power and influence. If you have one dude with $1B, versus 1,000 people with $1M, which scenario is going to better fit into the public good of an allegedly democratic republic government? Which voice might have an outsized effect on public policy...

@a@girllich.link @theleftistlawyer@mastodon.social billionaires exist because of a failure in society. Somebody was not held accountable when stepping on all the necks necessary to accumulate such extraordinary wealth. At my current, decently-paid, civil service public safety job, I would have to work over 1,200 years to accumulate one billion dollars. Gross, not net. No single individual needs, or deserves, that much money and influence. Not even the "nice" ones.

Oof, almost broke my streak (again). This isn't the current game, but a local copy of the original code that was posted when NYT bought it. (When I added the hashtag I misspelled it as "woedle" which could also be a fun game) Wordle 1745 6/6 🟨🟩⬛⬛⬛ ⬛🟨⬛⬛⬛ ⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛ ⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛ 🟨🟩⬛🟨🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 #wordle

Good news, no rogue cow. Guess there's a reason this area used to be called Echo Valley. . .

@boelder@shakedown.social what's that playing on? I just watched the 2-hour "pilot" of Firefly again (Hulu), but might be tempted into watching something new instead of again. Also a few episodes into the reboot of Trigun, it's pleasantly better than I expected.

@the_etrain@beige.party I don't think you're wrong. . . but I mostly just watch the same movies over and over again anyway.

@skua@mastodon.social I know my staff and my boss can tell when I'm on/off the coffee. Usually I just stick to tea. . .

@dgar@aus.social dude, it was sunny and warm here today. Got some stuff done, which felt nice, but mostly I'm happy I got the drums set arranged yesterday so the eldest can practice after lessons

Roasting some coffee tonight for a friend, and I completely whiffed on the timeline between first and second crack. Well, maybe I'll donate this batch to work and stay up to do another. The people at work won't even notice, they're used to folgers. (Nothing wrong with folgers, it is a decent middle of the road caffeination device, but when you know, you know). Complication: light roast may have a helluva lot more caffeine than folgers medium roast. Hmm.

I don't know if I can overstate how much I hate Daylight Savings Time. . I don't need my summer evenings to last until 2200, I would much rather my mornings be light than my bedtime. #daylightSavingsTime #dst

#3GoodThings well. . . 1. Fireplace roaring and going to keep us warm tonight 2. Current firewood stock should maintain through the next round of storms 3. I think I know where I stand on a recent job interview, and I'm at peace with however it goes.

@gilduran.com the thing that I don't understand, if people really want lasting change, is why is it a one-time tax? That's not going to remedy anything.

@PattyHanson@mastodon.social @gilduran.com as a Californian I wish our state would actually stand up to the absolute nonsense that is going on at the national level. Allegedly our economy is what, number 4, 5 in the world at the moment? I've got other thoughts on that tidbit, but you'd think we might have just a bit of bargaining power on at least the national stage.

@lowqualityfacts@mstdn.social I miss the internet of the late 90s. Remember chain letters? Somebody should bring those back. Now the highlight of my day is when people reply-all to a statewide mailing list 😂
