  :gamepad: Gamepad.Club Update :gamepad_white: We are pleased to announce that our server has been upgraded to Mastodon 4.6.2! The leap from our old version (4.5.9) is a big one, with many new features being added. The big one is Collections, where you can curate a list of accounts on you favourite topics.   Fixed a sneaky bug stopping larger images and video files from uploading. Previously, you'd get an error stating 'Error generating thumbnail' or similar. The root cause was an issue with our host's Object Storage implementation, that required a few additional parameters to be set in Mastodon's config.   :gamepad: Gamepad.Club News :gamepad_white: We are currently investigating an outage that managed to bring our infrastructure down since about 3.15pm GMT, without triggering any alarms or alerts. Service now appears to be restored, but may be slow while processing queues catch up with tasks. We will share further details as soon as we have them, and apologise profusely for this problem today.

  Apologies for the 5 minutes of downtime there. What was supposed to be some short maintenance ended up taking the platform offline unexpectedly. We'll be sure to examine how that managed to happen so that we can avoid it in the future.

  Gamepad.Club downtime report 2300 GMT, 01-DEC-2025 This outage, estimated to be approx. 5 minutes in duration, was the result of routine maintenance to apply Mastodon patch 4.5.2. As part of the upgrade process, several images are pulled from the Github repository. This is typically done when the service is restarted. However, this time the image pull process entered a failing loop state, preventing the service from coming back up.
