I'm fascinated and inspired by the free and open web and have really enjoyed my time on the Fediverse. I'm passionate about #decentralization and censorship resistance, and like to put what I learn to practice.

Over the last few years, my gears have shifted to an intense (natural) #WeightLoss mission. I'm down over 300lbs from 570. Being so large was very difficult and I've learned a lot getting to this point.

Trying to become a decent programmer.

RE: https://ec.social-network.europa.eu/@EUCommission/116760263030804683 It's actually sad to see the EU take half-measures on the one thing they kinda do okay with: consumer protections.

I'll admit I struggle to understand the psychology of authoritarian right people in Anglosphere nations basically licking the boot when it comes to internet censorship. Like if you had your way, you wouldn't be able to speak at all, ruled by people who still hate you. The EU seems to have a similar vein of people where they crack down on any dissent in the name of 'protecting democracy' that keeps whittling away from such moves. But principled (and rational) libertarianism see...

The medical establishment will continue to lose patients and trust to shameless frauds and grifters until access improves. The best thing the healthcare institutions could do to actually protect patients and defund health misinformation would be to work on bottlenecks to care. The e-celeb shilling fake cancer cures isn't competing with the best of the system, they're competing with what the plebs actually have to work with. When the GP gates testing behind "maybe it's just str...

I saw a nutty commie blog talk about this but I think it's a real thing: some of the wealthy are actually jealous of the poor in unintuitive ways, and are deeply insecure about it. One of the examples from the blog was that food that poor people rely on ends up being appropriated. But I actually think it's exemplified by the "hustle bro" CEO culture. The way you see these people with what is effectively an "e-mail job" talking about hard work and grit like they dig d...
