The Green Party has been urged to drop a candidate in Lambeth after she posted an image on social media claiming that Donald Trump is “owned by Jews”. As if Donald Trump, of all people, isn’t perfectly capable of being evil without help from Jews! Incidentally, I didn’t log on this morning intending to post a lot about antisemitism in the Green party, but there does seem to be a lot of it about.

You might be thinking that hating Israel is not the same as hating Jews, and in theory, you are right. In practice, it often does not divide that neatly. When incitement against “Zionists” reaches a certain point, attacks on Jews follow. This article and particularly this section neatly articulates why anti-Zionist rhetoric often ends up in an uncomfortable place. Worth bearing in mind, I think.
