More and more I think of the current online platforms as pointless. Most of the content, human or AI generated, exists only to manipulate and profit from the algorithms. We need to think of the Internet as just transport again. Rebuild our own small but meaningful network of human connections, like the websites with human curated links we once had. Hanging on to concepts like "audience" and "feed" will only lead to defeat. Any new platform that reaches critica...

Zine is 66% printed. Started cutting the pages. The hydraulic cutter slices a two inch stack of paper with a titanium steel blade as if it was a stick of butter. Its precision is 1/100 of an inch. It's very satisfying to use 🤣

The zine has been released in the wild! The zine hides this year's PyCon US mystery. The zine content and what unfolds is a trip down computer history to a point in time decades ago to tell a story that is incredibly relevant to counter the exploitative tech industry that dominates today. Curiosity is the only skill required. If you would like to play i will make a digital copy available after the conference. #zine #puzzles #ARG #pyconus

Another #Riso piece I am working on for the #zine. It's an old Victorian patented medicine advertisement for miracle tonics (Parker's Ginger Tonic), edited to make it more relevant to today's ailments. It cures indigestion, makes your hair grow again, and rewrites your emails to make you sound more intelligent than you really are.

I am experimenting with Goya's engraving "El sueño de la razón produce monstruos" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sleep_of_Reason_Produces_Monsters) for an upcoming #Risograph #zine about the exploitative state of social media and the web today. The caption, "El scroll infinito del feed devora la razón" (the infinite feed scroll swallows reason), brings the fatalism of the original up a few notches.

My Risograph version of Calaveras del Montón — número 2 (Skeletons from the Heap). José Guadalupe Posada, lithographer and cartoonist, is considered Mexico’s first modern artist. In the early 1900s, as revolution stirred, his satirical broadsides filled newspapers with calaveras — skeletons in biting social commentary. His Calavera Catrina endures as a cultural icon, the ancestor of the sugar skulls now synonymous with Día de los Muertos. #riso #risograph #print
