I was just listening to Vox's "Today, Explained" podcast ("It must suck to be young") talking with some politically aware kids about arguments. One mentioned looking up a list of 10 characteristics of genocide and saying "it doesn't match all of them." My immediate thought was "kid, if you gotta look at a list and say there’s 10% of the characteristics that it doesn’t meet then fine, you win, maybe it’s just sparkling mass fucking murder. You might wa...

Weird question: does anyone sell very small rolls of plastic wrap? As in, 8-10cm/3-4in wide and probably only a meter or so long, on a small core? Context: was reading something where a character was advising a younger sibling to always pay attention to her drink, and it occurred to me that there were probably places and times where it'd be worthwhile to women in particular to be able to simply and easily mostly seal the top of a drink. It looks like mini stretch wrap in that kind of width...

The weekend shopping had a couple of canned goods that were unusually tempting based on branding efforts. Skipped one because nah (also have several cans of the gochujang style from a Costco purchase), but I was willing to pay the sale price for the other (tea is meh, wouldn't pay full price for it or buy regularly, hopefully the peach is better). #hellokitty #spam #liquiddeath #deadbillionaire

I can't help but wonder how many courses are using the Reflecting Pool as an exercise in "how could a scenario like this be handled?" Offhand I'm thinking 1) would hydrophobic coatings work? Has the Navy done any research on long term underwater applications? 2) how about ways to keep a smooth reflecting surface while maintaining enough flow to keep it from being stagnant? #pool #reflectingpool #algae

WTF. Pledgebox (used for post-funding information gathering for Kickstarter campaigns) for months has sent me periodic "hey this is on Kickstarter" messages that I ignore, and in the process of doing some cleanup.... The most recent one is somebody's Kickstarter for a penis pump. Leaving aside that I'm just fine with the state of my junk, whose 'brilliant' idea was this? JHFC. I don't really see myself looking through Kickstarter for things to attach to my bits u...

@bsides312 did you know that your visible profile on Mastodon/Fediverse omits little things like your website (except social media accounts from Meta, etc) and the actual date of the conference?

In the US, the ATF is proposing that on any Federal firearm-related forms "Sex" will mean "biological gender." (Comments are open, for what it's worth: https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2026/05/06/2026-08932/selecting-biological-sex-on-atf-forms, relevant: https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/FR-2026-05-08/pdf/2026-09183.pdf). This seems remarkably short-sighted. By focusing on genetics instead of how people present it's actually *less*...
