A commonplace book is where you keep the lines worth keeping. Locus Communis is one you can carry: read, mark the passage, save the exact words, and share what you keep. Start yours at https://locuscommunis.com/signup #commonplace #reading #bookclub #bookstodon

Shipped today: the public book has a Discord relay. The moment a passage is accepted into the commons, it arrives in the community Discord as a share card. The real cover, the exact words, and a link back to the passage in the public book. The commons has a town crier now. First piece of a longer road, clubs bringing their reading into the communities they already have. Locus Communis, a new commonplace book. #buildinpublic #bookstodon

Take the whole thing with you, for real. Export your journal to Markdown or JSON anytime, or press it into a printable book. Even a club anthology presses into a real object. Nothing you keep here is ever trapped. https://locuscommunis.com/signup #Bookbinding #CommonplaceBook #Journaling

Hey #book #creators I'm working on something to hold a book club's shared reading experience. It's free, and it hopefully is a useful bolt in for discord, and youtube and socials too. Would really appreciate chatting with folks about it! #buildinpublic

Your margin notes and the passages you keep gather into a journal, a page for each day of reading. Old passages resurface as a daily leaf, so you reread what you once loved. A journal that is genuinely yours. https://locuscommunis.com/signup #Journaling #CommonplaceBook #Bookstodon

The thing that is actually cool about LLMs is that you can leverage them to add features to already good ideas. I've been tinkering with adding an ocr function or webscraper widget for the site. I could have an LLM cool up something workable in an hour. It's a big trade off ethically. So for now I will beat it back to code review and scaffolding. #buildinpublic
