I don't know how to say this gently. Excel is, without any doubt, both the single best and worst program I've ever had the (dis)pleasure of dealing with. Most of the bad parts are people forcing me to shoehorn it into an application development framework with a shoddy database.

Spend eight hours researching something, reading papers, in the weeds. The state of the art is completely obvious to anyone, you continue shaking your head that people make mistakes academia has told them to stop making 12 years ago. Spend five hours hacking up solution that you think is brilliant because you didn't do your research. Broadcast it by blog post immediately, everyone must know of your new idea.

You see the interface. A sense of relief washes over you. It looks like it was made in the late 1990s or early 2000s, bombards you with information and isn't afraid to throw around jargon. It just works. But you will be investing two years into mastering this software.

You wouldn't disassemble an HSM and publish a video about it.

IPv6 is so old that its use would normally constitute retrocomputing.
