Besides being an interesting project, #talkie is by far the funniest LLM ever released. Trained on pre-1931 text, to him computers are human employees skilled in calculations. He has pretty drastic (not exactly aligned) solutions to doomscrolling. And he is not aware of being an LLM: he's an Englishman. With a beard. 🎩 https://talkie-lm.com/introducing-talkie

Nine #AI agents, €0.80, and one publication-ready illustrated essay on your favourite scientific topic. Fully automated, from raw news to final draft. That's #ScienceRadar! 📡 Built with #CrewAI, the pipeline chains nine specialized agents: a Scout sifts through raw news and paper results to keep only what's relevant; three Curators score candidates for novelty, scientific value, and societal impact; an Arbiter picks the winner; a Writer drafts the essay; a Fact-Checker and an Ed...

#AI has huge transparency and sustainability problems, but there’s one thing I genuinely love, and it feels very much in the spirit of the internet: #skills. Yes, they’re part of the hype, like everything else right now. But in the end, they’re just text-based instructions written by people with expertise in different tasks. They can be downloaded, copied, adapted, improved, and used with open, free, or even local models. It’s a form of knowledge sharing for the agentic era. 🤖

Fascinating #fossils from #Morocco help shed light on the transition from early hominins to the lineage that later gave rise to modern humans, #Neanderthals, and #Denisovans. 🦴 Some traits look ancient, others are newer. The mix suggests these individuals were part of an African population close to the root of our lineage. 🪾 Early hominins from Morocco basal to the Homo sapiens lineage | Nature https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-025-09914-y

Genomics Daily is a small program that downloads newly published #genomics papers every day, uses #AI to summarise the most important ones, and posts about them on Mastodon and Bluesky. 🧬 I developed it as a personal project, but after a year I’ve started to wonder whether my bot is really useful or if it's just contributing to the #AIslop flooding the internet. 🌊 Perhaps it does more harm than good. What do you think? 🤔 https://genomic.social/@genomics_daily

With just a few genetic tweaks, scientists converted a #DNA polymerase into an #RNA polymerase that can also copy RNA back to DNA. @gemlog @GeorgWeissenbacher @signalapp No issues at all? Not even with banking apps?

@gemlog @GeorgWeissenbacher @signalapp Well, lots of things: checking transactions, recharging my prepaid card, paying stuff, monitoring my investments 🙂 In fact I rarely use my bank's website, I do everything via app

Some of you may have noticed that my bot @genomics_daily was recently put to sleep. 🤖🧬 It was a fun exercise for me and hopefully a useful tool for someone, but after 1+ years of #AI-generated summaries of #genomics papers, I realised that I was also contributing to the #AIslop that is polluting our beloved internet. And I didn't like it. In any case, the code is still on #Codeberg for everyone to play with. 🙂 https://codeberg.org/emmecola/genomics-daily
