The co-op self-service tills have had a UI change! I've years of muscle memory dedicated to the old UI. I can hit the options before it prompts and stop the till chatting at me. Now it's different for no good reason and I'm left with the till prompting me like I've never used self-service before. They changed the voice too!

I'm supposed to be #writing today, it's one of my favourite things to do. Drinking Tea and eating biscuits are also my favourites, and I enjoy them more than writing; so I'm doing that instead.

Today I am mostly imaging Diprotodon teeth. Diprotodons look like they would have been cute. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diprotodon#/media/File:Diprotodon_(Diprotodon_optatum).png

Just watched a guy on an electric fatbike whizz up the road in excess of 30km/h without peddling, fly through a red light and up on to the pavement. Where he was stopped by the police, and was arguing with them as I walked past.

I'm trying to hunt down a malformed path generated for a compiler. Hunting through a twisty maze of Makefiles, shell scrips and python. This stopped being interesting about 45 minutes ago.

I must not bid on online SEM auctions. Especially not for ones that use a diffusion pump. I don't have water to my shed.

Adding my material to a paper written in MS word, it already has 3 authors' contributions in it. They have left random formatting and colours littered throughout it. You type anywhere and there's a good change half way though a sentence the text will change to bold red on a yellow background. I think they are going to get a plain text file from me and they can deal with the mess they made.

Edit - Have ordered an Anker GaN device. Thanks for the replies. What's a good USB-C power-supply? I want something along the lines of 65W or so for soldering iron power and charging batteries. I'm assuming I want a GaN based device. I'd appreciate personal recomendatoions of something you've used that hasn't burned down your house.

Do I know anyone that rebuilds trollies. The trolley I used for EMF really needs new wheels and a comfortable handle. It's solid metal and very good quality, just aged a bit. I'd really like pneumatic tyres on it, but the axel would need extending. I could do it, but it seems like a job for someone that already has the tools and skills. I don't need yet another project.

Why do conferences decide to put on loud libe band right after dessert is served. You can't talk, the tables haven't moved yet so no dancing. You just piss everyone off.

For X-ray Microtomography aficionados (I can't be the only one on here...) This is generation 1, edit: I was told by someone that worked with this, this is the original generation 1 system. No revisions were made. This is the machine that started it all, or what remains of it. This is just the stages and sample manipulation. #Science #oldkit

It's the #NHS 's birthday. 78 years young. Let's not lose it. My most recent run in with the NHS was just over 6 years ago. I woke up one morning (mid first lock down) and my right arm was incredibly painful. I got a referral from my local GP - "go straight to A&E" My elbow had got infected and my arm was basically rotting off in real-time. An imperial shitload of antibiotics fixed that. Zero cost to me. How it should be.

I'm hiding in the dark with a beer because there is sunshine outside and I did that last week and it was hell. I have to get on a train soon. Thought and prayers please. Or give some money to the unhoused, that's actually useful.

If you've had a domain for 20 years, you shouldn't have to pay for it any more. I've paid the mortgage on it, it's mine.
