Since the last Roku (STB) update, the volume down on my (ancient LG) TV occasionally pauses the playback of things. I like IR, but this is inconvenient.

I do wonder why there must be a 'cloud' component to this... Why can't the ground stations transmit a TOTP derived code. Each user of the system could know the TOTP seed for the ground stations they wish to triangulate from. All necessary processing done on client, no need for sending anything to the cloud.
