  Today is little Kate's close up. She is about a week younger than the other 2 new kittens, sleeps a little more, and is a little quieter overall. As you can see, she's a sweetheart! I think her coloring will make her a really beautiful cat when she grows up. #CatsOfMastodon #Cats

  There is only one good self serve wand-type carwash in the Coachella Valley. After giving my car the special attention it deserves, I found today's carspotting subject. It's a first generation VW Rabbit diesel hatchback. This one's in really nice daily driver condition.   Armistead Maupin, author of my beloved "Tales of the City" books and screenplays, has had a blog for a few months. This story was just published, about his very first gay experience in the summer of 1969. It's sweet. There are about 10 "episodes" so far, all of them in his signature storytelling style.   Craig and daughter Rachel and I saw Project Hail Mary yesterday. I read the book last year, then both of them did, too. The idea of a human/alien meeting where each helps the other is so refreshing. So is the fantastical idea that all nations of Earth would cooperate on a long-range goal to save us all. We loved the movie, and thought it did a good job transforming Andy Weir's ultra-granular level of scientific detail into a movie. Big "fist my bump" to the Rocky...

  The fictional town of Darrowby in the Yorkshire Dales is filmed in the actual village of Grassington, home to a charming visitors center. Sheep are *everywhere* in the Dales, and they sold this mug with whimsical sheep. I think coffee mugs are a great way to remember a special trip.
