I get mad about the collapse a lot but mostly I’m into cats and games and books and cool people.By day, I write software. By preference, I'd write clojure or I'd be learning rust and elixir. By necessity, I'm writing golang and typescript.I think the way we model and transfer data in the industry commonly is woefully inadequate and am on a jeremiad to demonstrate alternatives.

Having choked down the full Behind the Bastards treatment of Jimmy Saville, a thought has struck me. Is it possible the UK became TERF island as something of a cynical ploy by the elite to redirect the public’s righteous fury at the growing realization that their elite, especially the Tories and the BBC, knowingly enabled an horrific predator for *decades*?

@Ox1de @jalefkowit A lifetime of watching Democrats miss layups has left me with at least the comfort of certainty, where the only real surprise is the manner in which they’ll screw it up. Biden pivoting from abortion directly into immigration was, to be sure, one for the ages.

Super 21st century American problem, really, but: it’s kind of wild that we’ve built a conmercial information system in which answering a simple question like “is store X open today” requires guessing which of: the store’s web site, automated phone tree, Google profile, Apple profile, Facebook profile, Instagram news feed are the most reliably updated by the people actually doing the work.

The US-Israeli War on Iran is illegal and immoral. As a citizen of the US, I believe we must cease fire immediately, pay reparations, impeach our leaders, and turn them over to the ICC.

Kinda weird hearing complaints about &quot;sportsball&quot; from literally some of the same folk who were insisting that an insulting term for llms was at least bigotry-adjacent a week or two back. Absolutely fight the gender police, the IOC is corrupt and friendly to authoritarians, always has been (check out the People&#39;s Olympiad), but I don&#39;t think it&#39;s helpful or necessary to deride a pastime enjoyed by at least the plurality of humans in so doing.
