Being asked by two separate people called Kate clearly acts as some sort of a catalyst in my mind. The next Ignite is on it's way. Late June You are very lucky this is not a Kate only edition - all speakers must be called Kate.

Well that was lovely, a great turn out for Ignite Liverpool. 12 great speakers and one great Mc Ewen @amcewen with the intro bits. We hadn't had one in 6 months and I am planning on not letting it be that long again. Maybe the next stop will be New Brighton. #ignitetalks #ignite

Hi @BBCRD I have a mad question for you. Do the Videos from the Video Nation archive still exist somewhere? https://www.bbc.co.uk/videonation/articles/u/uk_alivein.shtml There is a user on Reddit asking for a copy of the video featured on that page as it is of his mother-in-law. https://www.reddit.com/r/Liverpool/comments/1ulctzz/alive_in_liverpool_does_anyone_know_who_made_this/ I tried a few places where it might be held now or connecting organisations sadly with no luck.

Looks like @amcewen was wearing a Santa Hat at Ignite last week. It suits his Hawaiian shirt me thinks. I know what will be on the DoES Christmas card this year

If you have no plans for SATURDAY or a just a couple of hours spare, come along to this as they are having a Open Day to celebrate their Birthday. DoES is a community run organisation that only survives by hiring out workshop space and desks. But every year 4 members of that community receive free desk or workshop space! That is over 4,160 hours of free support they simply just give away. If you are looking for a coworking space or workshop space then check them out https://doesliverpool.com/...

I went to Birkenhead to look at venues for Ignite. What a mad road layout they have with what felt like a 6 lane highway running through the middle (not shown). I had to walk back on myself to get a couple of venues as there was no pedestrian access. Link to map https://osm.org/go/euf23Jnlx-

I have gotten to the stage in life where I complain that LCR are missing out on important places in the Tourist documents. And that they offer shallow experiences to visitors and their claims that places are sustainable that don't even have bike parking outside is ridiculous. I'll mention it to Ed Gommon for his next Echo piece.

After what I thought was a shaky start attracting speakers for this Ignite event in Birkenhead. It appears that people were keen to do it - with 13 speakers so far. Notable here is @ColinTheMathmo Come along next Tuesday (25th) and see @amcewen Introduce all our speakers. If you’ve never been before — don’t worry! Ignite is as friendly as it gets. You’ll find plenty of lovely people to chat to, maybe grab something to eat before things kick off, and settle in for a night of five-minute ligh...

My machine makes strange booping sounds. Spend 5 minutes searching for the platform that has a notification - email accounts, social media, messaging apps. Notice a signal message received yesterday and reply to that. Don't find the original booping app.

@amcewen@mastodon.me.uk it was good I wore a top hat and danced....not. But it was good. I've been passing on network connections to people who attended. The audience were really keen. I loved Tom's visualisation of financial transactions across Merseyside local authorities. The never ending saga of the parcel in Chile... hope it ends soon.

I wasn't shocked this was so long ago but it was so long ago. Such good fun to do. I looked back as I was hosting an Open data event in Liverpool today. https://socialmediacafeliverpool.wordpress.com/2012/07/12/liverpool-social-media-cafe-brings-you-the-open-data-one/

@amcewen@mastodon.me.uk was entertaining the crowds at the Festival of Data on Friday, during the Cabaret of Dangerous Ideas. As compere he wowed the audience with his dazzling light beam that not only counted down the time on the talks but also acted as a clapometer.
