What’s weird about boards: “the combination of great power, unclear responsibility, and ~zero accountability; additionally, I haven't been able to find much in the way of clear, widely accepted statements of what makes a good board member.” Re-reading my favorite essay on boards. Heres what I don’t get: The richest, freest, most innovative society in human history… Produced a set of huge winners, wealthy beyond imagining… Who say that everything is terrible and we have to upend the system in order to save it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My footnote “The government is not offering to exchange dismissal of a criminal case for Adams’s assistance on immigration enforcement” is raising lots of questions already answered by my footnote

Dem base and donors: “We want candidates who are smart, moderate, take advice from experts, and support data-driven policies.” Also Dem base and donors: “Why don’t we have any charismatic firebrand knife fighters ready for this moment?!”

Ignore the pessimists and focus on the money you’re *making* tonight: Your toaster is now 30% more valuable. So are your shoes and your bananas! Thank you tariffs!

Probably approaching 1,000 people in otherwise quiet NYC suburbs today for #HandsOff, braving rain and 50 degree temps.

The articles dumping on Bluesky miss the point. Either you’re comfortable with Elon Musk moderating your and the country’s info diet, or you’re not. If you are, say so. If not, don’t hate on people trying to build elsewhere.

My favorite thing in politics: Money isn’t everything. Money matters way too much, but results like these remind us that self-government is still alive.
