What the hell is a non-bowler? I see it being used by people who are clearly very racist so I know it’s some kind of dog whistle but I don’t get it. I guess I’m not their dog, and that’s a good thing.

Anybody else find it ironic that the star of The Handmaids Tale belongs to a cult in real life?

I’ve been doing some research and looking into a PhD in Jewish studies or Holocaust/genocide studies. Obviously given my disability, my memory issues, this would be a real struggle for me. I would have to take it very slowly. It might take me many years to achieve. I would need to take one course or two at a time. I would have to work four times as hard as a nondisabled person. I might never even be able to get it done. But I’m looking into it.

On Holocaust Remembrance Day a terrorist murdered people coming out of Shabbat services in a synagogue in Jerusalem. I am reminded that the hate that led to the Holocaust has not gone away. It is rising in the world once again. I have lost all optimism, despite trying to hold onto it. I believe there will never be safety for us in this world. But we must hold onto our joy in life, and our communities must stay brave and hold together. I love the Jewish people. Am Yisrael chai.

Just found this picture of me on my Uncle Bill’s ranch circa 1970. He was a Shoshone Indian who taught me what little I know of traditional practices. He raised buffalo, one of the primary foods of the NW band of Shoshone, who were hunters and trappers. This was near Idaho Falls.
