Attended a lovely events production manager's barbecue on a rooftop near Kings Cross this evening. The diversity was as wide as you might expect: nearly all of us were white, middle aged men with varying degrees of signs of enjoying a job with lots of travelling, long hours and fixed deadlines. 🫣

I've just heard the phrase "This is so jokes bro" stated by one of the lighting team and I now feel someone's grandad.

This was fascinating #emfcamp I stayed to watch as dementia, Alzheimer's and ageing scare me far more than dropping dead tomorrow. https://www.emfcamp.org/schedule/2026/94-the-astronaut-protocol

The lease on my Polestar is up soon and I'm back in the extremely dull process of finding something to replace it knowing that it does the job fine and it's only really when I'm in Suffolk that I need a car. My sure bet of the BYD Seal was lovely to drive, but like the Model 3 it's a saloon pretending to be a hatchback and therefore impractical. Looks like I'm going to end up with an small SUV or old model Cupra Born.

Is there a direct correlation between the value of a man's shirt and the amount of elbow space he feels entitled to on the train? Maybe pay less for your clothes and spend it on a first class ticket? Underwriting doesn't look like a low income career.

I'm still baffled by these new roadsigns that have gone up in Newbury. Pass both sides of what? On pedestrianised streets. I think someone ordered the wrong signs. #Newbury #roadsigns #urbanplanning

RE: https://mastox.eu/@ZackPolanski/116295661112883630 How do blocks of 50+ apartments work if not buy leasehold. Who owns the building they're all in? Managing a building of only 12 flats was hard enough when we had to collect ground rent from and agree maintenance budgets / payments with frequently changing neighbours and absent landlords.

The highlight of my job is I get to work with mad geniuses like @solexious and Dave Cranmer. I can't show what they're building for the current project, but here's one of Dave's previous creations. https://nervoussquirrel.com/ghost_train.html

There's a lot of chat about extremely small bananas on this job. I've also discovered there's a specific SFW subreddit for this topic.

RE: https://wandering.shop/@susankayequinn/116126600457999498 This is a much better thing to do than the UKs equivalent of trashing low emission zone enforcement cameras.

My mum is on a cruise from the UK around the coast of South America and has visited the Falkland Islands today having already been to Montevideo. Both places I'd love to visit. Am very envious. 70% of my job could quite happily be done whilst moving around the world on a boat, assuming a reasonable Internet connection.

Sitting in Dublin watching flightcases and scenery get loaded onto trucks and I for one are extremely grateful for the Google search clarification about these trucks not being related to long running radio soap The Archers

About to test drive a Model Y. I like the look of the outside, but need to get over the brand association. The new Standard edition without the light bar and pointless rear seat screens looks like a good deal. There are some excellent deals on the generally unloved but excellent Ioniq 6 and the Megane are both on my list for when the Polestar lease is up.
