  Just so we are clear: #LocalLLMs are an asset if trained and used well. But please be aware that many projects are pretending to be open source but their releases contain closed source components where it's not transparent what is going on. Go to the source. Llama.cpp, PyTorch, etc.

  It is official... I will be taking a while off from work. I am severely out of energy. I've been trying to fight this but I reached a state where no amount of rest actually makes me feel rested.

  @Remittancegirl I spent ten years warning people to not enable or elect him. Yet the most common American reply I am getting is: "he is one of us". That seems to be the creepy sentiment shared throughout society. I worry, people enable him because they want to be like him... 😑

  @Remittancegirl yeah, it's frightening and absolutely nonsensical for me how one can even consider this. This is so not how American PR presents the country 😑 I hope people will wake up. All over the world.

  Typical #devops stuff. I announced a deprecation and provided 90 days for users of the service including easy migration instructions that were copy & paste. Guess what? Its been 200 days, and now I have 24 hours left to shutdown the deprecated service and 27 services still depending on it.

  With this my #homelab is one step closer to completion. This will be my KVM host 1 (it will have a sister). It sports an i7-12700t with enough cores and storage to spare. I got KVM with virsh and a cloud-init / cloud image pair running. So new guests come up fast. Since this is all on Wi-Fi, I messed with the firewall a lot. Private network for guests, NAT, some routing. Avahi advertising for guests has to happen on the KVM host. This is so much fun 😊

  My new homelab has progressed. I now have SmallStep CA running, with ACME enabled, and InfluxDB 3 with Grafana. Its not much but it is a start. #homelab #stepca #grafana

  I had a blast today. Doing some reverse engineering, and usually my tool of choice is BinaryNinja. Not today, after some internal monologue I decided to try fully switching to Ghidra. Since I usually write scripts to reverse/trail through apps, Ghidra and Python were great. What I enjoyed most: I can actually customize the auto analysis for my specific target. That's so pleasant. So #ghidra made a friend today.

  I can safely say, my #homelab is running fully using multicast DNS. One #l3s cluster, some kvm hosts, and a few other things, and I am running zero BIND servers. This is fun. 😄 I went ahead and added a nice status page using Gatus (see https://gatus.io/). In case anyone else runs into this: I put the .local names into coredns configmaps on the k3s cluster, and I use https://github.com/smallstep/step-issuer instead of standard HTTP or DNS validation.

  I have been silently stalking #radicle and its progress, and based on https://blog.liw.fi/posts/2026/radicle-status-quo-01/ I finally decided to give it a whirl. This looks like it could be the real #fediverse answer leading to a distributed github alternative. Also, I really dig the visuals. This gives me kernel hacking likes it 1996 feels.

  A while ago I present `rilua`, my #rustlang port of #lua and one of the fun things about it is: it turned out to work really well 😄 We have [WASM demo](https://wowemulation-dev.github.io/rilua/) online and you can actually go to [Lua by Example](https://luabyexample.techplexlabs.com/) and copy and paste the examples into rilua. Except for the system functions that do not exist in WASM or for some post Lua 5.1 features, the examples work.

  #MediaWiki is like an old pair of shoes you find in the back of your closet, and you realize how much you missed them. I put MediaWiki 1.45 into my #homelab and after a few resets I now have an Alpine based instance with failover, rolling updates, etc. up. For me this is like my first meeting with Markdown in 2004. The format and way to use it is so toned down, you never ponder how to do stuff. So my Homelab docs moved into it. #SilentSunday

  Biggest surprise of this week: C++20 and CMake is actually good and comfortable to use, with a bit of boost sprinkled on top. Seems all compilers now have stable feature support. Thanks 🙏 Clang and LLVM have literally put the fun back in C++ for me.

  `rilua` - my tiny Rust port of Lua 5.1 - has been out for a few days and I've been using it for scripting in my local projects. It's definitely fun to have your own language interpreter available and free to use as you like.   `rilua` had some work done, and with v1.0.11 out we finally have binaries with checksums for various platforms available: https://github.com/wowemulation-dev/rilua/releases/tag/v0.1.11 We now allow dynamic loading, and have a few examples for embedding our Lua 5.1 VM. #lua #rustlang

  https://github.com/wowemulation-dev/rilua has seen some more releases. Some performance improvements have been made on one regression cleaning up too much in the GC was fixed. We are getting closer to matching Luas performance. #lua #rustlang

  Is anyone using mdbook and readthedocs.org for their #rustlang project? I followed the official docs to the letter but https://github.com/wowemulation-dev/rilua/blob/main/.readthedocs.yaml will just not work, because apparently the installed mdbook is not in the PATH. 😢 send help please. I expect this to be facepalm style obvious but I do not see it.
