Linux is annoying because, depending how fast each of my monitors wake up, I sometimes get the same content on both. Linux is great because I can write a script to fix that, then create a file that lets me add it to the launcher bar, so I can fix it instantly with a single click instead of having to turn a monitor off and on again. (Yeah sure, so maybe I did spend just a little too long making an SVG icon for my shortcut, too. And yes, I could have added this to a startup script but I&#39;...

I was so pleased with myself for wiping my troubled System 76 clean and putting Pop OS on it last week. Today I had my first google meet and, apart from sound, mic, and video, everything went great. #linux

Just had a dark thought. What if most people, when walking down a long corridor, never bother to defocus their eyes and bank their head from side to side a little, pretending their view is from the cockpit of an x-wing fighter zooming through the trenches of a death star? Surely not. What a dull life that must be.

Can very much recommend the audiobook Doppleganger written and narrated by Naomi Klein. Was putting it off for such a long time because I couldn&#39;t imagine how deep and interesting a book about someone getting confused with another person could be. Second listen complete and I just started Crisis Engineering by Marina Nitze, Matthew Weaver and Mikey Dickerson. So far so good. #books #audiobook

Bunked off work this morning for a spot of snowboarding with my wife, partly because we are lucky as hell to be able to do so, and partly to see if a splash of adrenaline can shift this migraine I&#39;ve had on and off for a few days. This morning&#39;s challenge is to decide whether or not to scowl at yesterday me. My work notes end abruptly and there is nothing to inform today me of where I got to. This would have been especially helpful given that I seem to be halfway through dismantling something important to make it work better. On the other hand, yesterday me&#39;s reason for abandoning work part way through was to give the dogs a walk before cooking a rather splendid family dinner. I think I&#39;ll let...

A little disappointed that we finally reached the current episode of The Pitt yesterday meaning that we are rationed to one episode per week now. Its so damn good. And I&#39;m glad it&#39;s becoming popular. I much prefer my television heroes being members of the caring classes, battling not just injury and disease, but bureaucracy, ignorance and the status quo, than those licensed to use violence to enforce the status quo. #tv
