What you’re saying seems obvious but I don’t think it’s as simple as that. However, @stepan@lemmy.cafe said “somehow manage to ignore it”. I don’t think anyone ignores trauma in the way this implies. Unaddressed trauma is a ticking time bomb, period. Trauma comes in all shapes and sizes. When you get into the weeds, the word actually becomes useless on its own. Problem is that the school-to-prison pipeline is a very real thing and kids that are held back or don’t finish school are far more likely to end up in prison than those that finish with terrible records. The way school systems work in most of the US, the difference in outcomes for those with and without high school diplomas is depressingly stark.

No offense but this is a very self-centered and immature viewpoint. Trauma is a fact of human existence. Just because the world is designed for neurotypicals doesn’t mean the world isn’t still traumatic for them. Case in point: trauma for physical assault, sexual abuse, loss of a loved one, severe injury, cancer, losing a job (and the avalanche that can start). None of us know what goes on behind closed doors.

Listen, billionaires suck. But if you think tech giants are hypocritical for strictly rationing screen time to their children then you have lost the plot. Social media, and screen time in general, are bad for you. Everyone knows this now. If you aren’t limiting your child’s access, that’s on you. Before a child can get addicted, their parents have to give them access.
