The neuroaffirmative movement replaced one narrative with another. The old one said defective. The new one says pure. Neither contains a full person. New essay on why the purity myth denies autistic people their right to complexity, and why Jung’s shadow work applies to communities, not only to individuals. https://medium.com/@christian.gajewski/why-innocence-is-autism-advocacys-gentlest-cage-afe28af2b4cc #Autism #Neurodiversity #AuDHD #MentalHealth #Jung #actuallyautistic

Quick update for everyone here. My memoir Wrong Planet / Right Mind is on Amazon Kindle. Late-diagnosed autistic at 48, twice-exceptional, healthcare worker. I rebranded the book in April. Cleaner cover, more accurate title, but I lost some early reviews and ranking in the process. The honest learning experience of a first-time author. Through June 30 the launch price is $4.99 / €4.99 (regular $9.99). Free with Kindle Unlimited. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GWS5DXWM #ActuallyAutistic #AuDHD #Au...

Quick follow-up on the book post from this morning, in case it scrolled past. The launch price ($4.99 / €4.99) is structural. I priced it at $9.99 in April and the book stalled. Lowering it through June 30 to rebuild some traction. Honest signal of what works and what does not, for any indie author here debating the same question. My AuDHD mornings run on dice now. Six tasks on paper, a 1d6 for priority, a 1d20 for minutes per task, a 60-second primer timer that runs before everything else. The system that finally aligns the autistic architecture (taxonomies, protocols) with the ADHD activation (urgency, novelty). New piece today on Invisible Illness. https://medium.com/invisible-illness/how-d-d-dice-and-a-60-second-timer-run-my-audhd-day-a5053f5ba12e #AuDHD #Autism #ADHD #LateDiagnosis

Just watched Sorrentino's La Grazia on MUBI. Wrote about it on Substack: the film as grief work in four registers, death, love, role, and the idea of the self. For anyone whose inner life needs a translator before it can be felt. https://open.substack.com/pub/christiangajewski/p/sorrentinos-la-grazia-or-the-grief?r=1y90fn&utm_campaign=post-expanded-share&utm_medium=web #PaoloSorrentino #ToniServillo #LaGrazia #ItalianCinema #Mourning

A 1980s anime handed me an honor code at ten. A clinic handed me the autism diagnosis at 48. Two names for the same nervous system, and the older one was kinder. What is a diagnosis actually measuring? https://medium.com/@christian.gajewski/bushido-named-my-autism-38-years-before-the-clinic-did-698c6999e1a2 #ActuallyAutistic #Neurodivergent #AuDHD

Uta Frith wants to remove late-diagnosed autistic adults from the spectrum. By her own contraindicators, I shouldn’t have my diagnosis. By my 32 years of wrong diagnoses, I have my answer. On epistemic authority, paradigm shifts, and who gets to define the experience from the inside. https://medium.com/@christian.gajewski/who-owns-the-authority-to-define-autism-3bb89836a2cb #Autism #Neurodiversity #Psychology #ActuallyAutistic #Neurodivergent

The neuroaffirmative turn de-pathologised alexithymia. It didn't de-centralise emotion as the reference category. That distinction is everything. This week's Substack is about what the clinical vocabulary couldn't name, and the word I coined to fill that gap. https://open.substack.com/pub/christiangajewski/p/thirty-seven-degrees-a-fan-pointed?r=1y90fn&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web #Autism #Neurodiversity #Philosophy #ActuallyAutistic #Neurodivergent

I recently read Cialdini's Influence: Science and Practice. The reciprocity principle raised substantial doubts for me. My autistic experience suggests that, in interactions with neurotypical people, that principle deforms in systematic ways. Alongside the double empathy problem, a parallel problem of double reciprocity may be at work. Have you noticed anything similar? #Autism #ActuallyAutistic #AuDHD

I wrote Wrong Planet / Right Mind after 48 years of wrong diagnoses, burnout, and a life that only made sense backwards. The book is out. No reviews yet. If you’re autistic, late-diagnosed, or simply always knew something was different, and you’d like a free EPUB copy in exchange for an honest Amazon review, reply or DM me. No Amazon purchase needed, just an active account. No pressure on what you write. Honest means honest. #ActuallyAutistic #Latediagnosis #neurodivergent
