  Finally took a bit of time to circle back and try out some performance tweaks for my wruby site generator. Currently testing things a bit more, but I've managed to bring down subsequent site rebuilds (with 202 posts + 10 or so additional pages): ~1.816s to ~0.591s (on my M2 MacBook Air) #ruby #ssg

  It's been roughly a week or so since testing out #Ubuntu on my #thinkpad T480s. I'm genuinely impressed how painless everything has been (connecting displays, driver support, wifi etc). I know Ubuntu is picked on quite a bit, but I think it is one of the best free/open "starter" operating systems to introduce to newbies.

  All of my main website subdomain projects have been moved over to my #RaspberryPi Zero (named Hermes). If things continue to work well, I plan to port my main blog over as well!   Just as I’ve been slowly migrating my web projects to locally self hosted, my ISP goes down for ~2 hours 🙄 I guess nothing I host is critical or required to have 99.99% uptime. But still!

  As much as I enjoy Firefox, I don't think Mozilla will be keeping Thundermail around for very long. The fact that their beta testers are required to pay $6/month is already pretty rough. Also seems to be hosted on AWS which makes calling it "privacy-first" a little bit of a stretch... I think after the initial launch, this will be another product Mozilla kills off.   Testing out a fun experiment of running a variation of my existing website locally.
