  It’s drops off, but not as much as you’d think. MiMo uses 5:1 SWA, so its long-context compute doesn’t increase as catastrophically as older models. That, and most of the “slowness” comes from the MoE layers being on CPU (whereas the attention layers that get heavier at high context are all on the 3090). That’s the beauty of these MoEs: they’re just the right size for the “compute-lite” parts to stay in CPU RAM. I will measure it tomorrow. It is a constant ~9-10TPS for short queries though...

  Well, that’s just it. Facebook makes so much money it doesn’t even matter, they can just write it off and Zuckerberg faces zero consequences. This is the same. These guys could burn many billions on space data centers, get zero returns yet face zero consequences, essentially leaving the rest of the world with the bill/wasted work.

  This is exactly my point; it’s easy to jump in and defend Valve for their good points when, at the end of the day, they take a third of all profits for themselves and have a pseudo monopoly with their platform. One can make similar points about Amazon, about how much they can save retailers, especially before they enshittified so significantly.

  They are human. There’s nothing wrong with acknowledging that, while also reiterating that they basically shouldn’t exist. Also, I think it’s important to draw a line between the “rich” (well-off working professionals like researchers, doctors, small entrepreneurs), and people with more wealth than many sovereign states put together.
