In proper geek news, my CV/Resume is now in Github as a LaTeX file. When I push a change to it, a Github Action automatically generates a PDF and Word version. #latex #github #cv #resume

@jorijn Yeah, I've come to the same conclusion. Tired of these companies enshitifying... It looks like their build sources are going to stay so I'm gonna setup my own Harbor registry and custom pipeline to build all the images I use multi-platform once a week or so...

I found out today, with 2 weeks left, that my existing contract is winding up! So, if anyone in the UK or Europe is looking for a contract DevOps or Platform Engineer who specialised in Terraform, Kubernetes, GitOps, and CI/CD, let me know! I'm keeping an eye out for an outside IR35, mostly remote role, but I'm flexible given the time of the year. https://www.linkedin.com/in/bocan/ #devops #PlatformEngineering #jobs

There are few things better than pre-ordering a book, forgetting about it, and then it popping through your door as a surprise. Gonna enjoy this one by @pluralistic

Someone tell me why this is a good or bad idea: I self host my own email service. Due to the nature of email, I obviously need to read and send email from my phone, my laptop at home (dynamic ip), maybe with the laptop when using outside wifi. Now, all that will use TLS, strong passwords, etc. However, I don't want IMAP, and the SMTP submission port to really be open to the wide internet. Why could I not, run python app in an AWS Lambda function, listening on an encrypted API that s...

A bit stressed. Next week I'll have to pick up a locked down #Windows laptop from a client to connect to their system. I haven't been forced to touch a Windows machine in like 7 years. Windows isn't made for technical people, and locking them down is like something that should have stayed in the 1990s.

After an absurd number of late nights of building and debugging, Bocan Music is finally at version 1.0.0. It's a native music player for macOS that I hope feels like Apple built it. Written in Swift 6, designed for the platform, optimised for your local MP3 and FLAC library. Think iTunes meets Winamp from 2007 ✨ Smart playlists ✨ Gapless playback ✨ AcousticID fingerprinting ✨ Scrobbling support ✨ Real-time visualizers ✨ Lyrics display ✨ 10-band EQ ✨ Constructed with accessibility in m...

Almost an hour spent in a meeting discussing technical issues that I know will never get addressed. It's too hot for this. And life is too short. #life

My open source MacOS music player Bòcan, now supports Subsonic/Navidrome music sources. I still need to do a bit of work on the federated search function but it's very usable. Check it out: https://bocan.app #navidrome #subsonic #music #audio
